Hi all, I'm preparing to buy a new(ish) car. I've always had old bangers and I'm sick of paying for garage bills. I've been to a dealership this afternoon to look at Nissan Micras, but the salesman is not the best person for impartial car buying advice! I don't know whether to got for a one year old car, still in warranty, or pay less and got for a 2009ish car. Additionally, I've been thinking Micra but then I've read a lot on here about Kia Picantos and Toyota Yaris.

So as you can see I'm pretty much a novice, basically I want a small car, reliable, economical - I just need to know the best way to go about it! (I currently drive a Citroen Relay which I'm going to trade in hopefully).... Read more

Great, thanks. The What Car price is the dealer's quoted price anyway. Once you've taken off the £250 discount conditional on taking out PCP, the drivethedeal quote is £180 cheaper which is something I suppose....!

It would appear that VW are experiencing technical problems with their DSG gearboxes in this market.

I looked at this and as I suspected it's the 7-speed gearbox that is the source of the problems: the report also said that this version is locally assembled in China.

I still can't understand why VAG introduced this new version: my Octavia vRS has the 6-speed DSG and 6 speeds is quite enough. It also doesn't suffer the jerkiness that has been reported about the 7-speed DSG.

Hi, We have a Partner Tepee that has a clunk on the osf suspension. It is a heavy sound and can be felt through the pedals, not like anti roll bar link chatter. It happens over lower speed potholes, I think the other creaks and engine drown out the noise at higher speed.

It has had bushes checked, both front shockers and the upper engine mount changed and the problem persists!... Read more

Is this the car that runs on the fiat punto chassis? I had a similar problem withy grande punto. It was worse in warm weather. After along battle with fiat it turned out to be the steering box/rack.
