It would appear that VW are experiencing technical problems with their DSG gearboxes in this market.

Indeed, I would not touch a dsg gearbox with the proverbial bargepole, and there are plenty of examples of VW doing stuff, stuff goes wrong, and then dufficulty to get it fixed. Why have they extended the warranty in china... because the chinese state will shut them down if they don't conform!

Whereas us lot in the UK accept shoddy manufacturing simply because the general population are push overs and dont mind as long as they have a 'cool badge'

I looked at this and as I suspected it's the 7-speed gearbox that is the source of the problems: the report also said that this version is locally assembled in China.

I still can't understand why VAG introduced this new version: my Octavia vRS has the 6-speed DSG and 6 speeds is quite enough. It also doesn't suffer the jerkiness that has been reported about the 7-speed DSG.
