Vauxhall Meriva A - Meriva Timing belt change - smws1976

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if the thread on the crankshaft pulley bolt on my 2004 Meriva is a left-handed thread? (you undo it by turning it clockwise rather than the normal anti-clockwise) and is there a way of locking the crankshaft to do this?

it looks like i need to remove it to change the cambelt :-/

Crank pulley bolt will be normal right hand thread, if it were a left hand thread it would undo as you drove (unless it was an old Simca or certain Honda).

Surely if you are changing th the timing belt you have a manual. To attemt this without a manual is crazy. Regards Peter
