Hi all

I bought a car December 08 from a dealer - used but advertised as having a FSH. I've had the car serviced 3 times from the same dealer since, but when I recently took it to a registered Nissan garage to get a new key programmed, they noticed the warranty and service book were for a completely different car.

Obviously this means that my car is without a service history, which goes against what the dealer advised. Is it possible for a dealer to get a new service history book and transfer the details over? If not (this seems a bit fraudulent!), am I entitled to any sort of compensation from the dealer?

Thanks for your help :) Read more

Consider yourself lucky. The debris sometimes forces itself into the cambelt cover & wrecks the cylinder head or worse.

Had these codes march 2010, had oil an filter change, today 6 months after oil an filter change the codes are back. Car does not rattle, do not suspect chain problem.

Scenario: start car, after about 10 secs start to drive off, 10 yards down road, light on,car lurches forward and down as if to stop/stall, throwing you forwards with a positive jolt, after this split second symton ,light stays on and she drives all day no problems what so ever, oil level is fine, any views greatly appreaited.... In cold mornings, my car starts OK but the engine sign stays on and it chokes along with smoke trailing behind for about 5 to 10 minutes, depending on how cold it is. After that, when I turn off and start again, the engine sign will usually go off and the car will be fine for the rest of the day. If the sign is still on, I'll have to choke along a bit longer. Have done a diagnostic test in a local garage but nothing unable to locate anywhere faulty. A mechanic suspects the fuel pump but not sure. Please advise. Read more

Hello have you tried a higher nectane fuel give the car a good run.Or put a dose of millers additive for the injectors. Before you spend any money on a fuel pump.

Having just got my two renewal notices I started to wonder how they calculate the premium before NCB. When I first took to the road over thirty years ago (two years on two wheels first) I used to go to the local broker. He had a number of "books" from the various insurance companies. After checking out the insurance group for the car he got the base premium from a matrix of group vs. age. There were a few exceptions such as no drivers under 25, or refer to company for some of the highest groups or if the person had points on their licence. However there seems to be nothing like that these days that you can refer to. If they feel they may lose the business some are willing to reduce the premium followed sometimes by a large jump the following year. This has all come to mind as the main car went up around around 30% as expected as it is five groups higher. However the second car virtually doubled and it is only group 3.... Read more

I have now renewed the main car with the original company as price comparisons all came out higher! The second car was over 50% cheaper with another broker (all done over the phone). With price comparison I got quotes both higher and lower than the original - makes no sense at all!
