At 3 years old with 15 thousand miles on the clock I would expect this car to pass the first MOT without major failure. My car failed due to badly corroded rear brake discs. This car had been serviced each year by the supplying dealership and is kept in a heated garage. Could it be the discs are not fit for purpose. Read more

DO NOT buy a lead acid battery. As above, they will decay with age. Period.

( Yes, I have been here recently - just lurking though! )
A couple of weeks ago I had an unexplained puncture on the A361 in Devon; while negotiating the roundabout southbound at the junction with the A399 the front left suddenly deflated.... Read more
Yes, there was a valve cap on it.
Bath - no; wasn't much point... after beingdriven on the flat for ½ a mile to the layby and then sitting on it for nearly an hour until the AA turned up it would probably have developed a myriad of small splits! I favour the bracing failure theory above...
Hi all,
My first post here but have found the search facility very usefull without posting.
I have a Transit Connect in my workshop with a cambelt tensioner failure. I am about to fit the new belt and tensioner but wanted to check what position the tensioner should be in.
Autodata shows the tab opposite the allen key hole lined up horizontal but if i line the tab up with the allen key hole, it is in the ten to five position.
There is a little line on the body of the tensioner which lines up with the tab if i move the allen key hole horizontal.
Sorry for the strange description. Hopefully someone will understand what i am describing ;) Read more
I beleive its the same as the focus one.
Hi All
Twice in the last two months my fiesta has failed to start. What happens is that the the starter motor will work initially but if the engine doesnt start first time and I try to start again then I get nothing at all when I turn the ignition (this doesnt happen always and often I can start the car second time round). If I bump start the car all is fine and I can drive for months without the problem occuring again.... Read more
I would suspect that your battery terminals need cleaning, when it doesn't start the second time, do you panel lights go out when you try? If not, probably a faulty starter motor or maybe ignition switch.
Just had second oil change after dealer put wrong oil in and did not fit the offered pattern oil filter ~gfe650 or blueprint adgo2136.
Have used original part #93743595... Read more
Evening, new to the threads.
I bought a 2000 306 last month and today a strange crackling noise started coming from the air con vent at the passenger's side corner. It's only noticeable when the car is moving, from about 10 mph or so.... Read more
If you've got air-con then I'd have thought you've got a pollen filter and that should stop anything as large as a leaf - unless of course it's not fitted?
Could it be something as simple as leaves under the bonnet? Lift your bonnet and clear away all you can see, particularly in the area immediately under the windscreen.
The new 1.5 Diesel Nissan Note from November is Euro 5, 110g/km and has a DPF.Can anyone advise if the current model, Euro 4, 115g/km has one?
I realise all Diesels will have DPFs fitted before long, does that mean that they will all be unsuitable for town driving due to regeneration issues?... Read more

Rear disks are lightly loaded. You garage a 15k miles car - often wet - in a heated garage. Low miles = little action on rear disks. heated garage = accelerated rust on bare metal.
