Evening, new to the threads.

I bought a 2000 306 last month and today a strange crackling noise started coming from the air con vent at the passenger's side corner. It's only noticeable when the car is moving, from about 10 mph or so.... Read more

If you've got air-con then I'd have thought you've got a pollen filter and that should stop anything as large as a leaf - unless of course it's not fitted?

Could it be something as simple as leaves under the bonnet? Lift your bonnet and clear away all you can see, particularly in the area immediately under the windscreen.

Question Nissan Note DPF
markandchrissie

The new 1.5 Diesel Nissan Note from November is Euro 5, 110g/km and has a DPF.Can anyone advise if the current model, Euro 4, 115g/km has one?

I realise all Diesels will have DPFs fitted before long, does that mean that they will all be unsuitable for town driving due to regeneration issues?... Read more

Hi,

my Focus has a plastic trim around the edge of the front windscreen. It has popped out along the top edge and makes a whistling noise. I've tried pushing it back in but it just pops out again. Any ideas as to what would be safe to use to glue it back in? So far I've thought about using silicone sealer or plumber's mait. I'm not sure about either. Whatever I use it would need to be flexible, not cause any damage and not cause a problem if the windscreen needs replacing. Any recommendations?... Read more

scorpio alan

Need some help, the car strts and runs for approx 20 mins then stops, if i leave it for a while approx 1 - 2 hrs it starts again. It seems that when it gets warm it stops and starts when its gone cold. I have had an diagnostic out and said it was the edis module, i bought one and it still had the problem so he said he really didnt know what was wrong as he tested all he could. I,ve also had someone come with a fds machine who tested quite a bit but still had no joy with finding the fault. Garage said they will do a trial and error but couldnt say how long or what price i would be paying. Really need some help, thanks Read more

these cosworth scorpio's suffered with the engine bay wiring loom litterally falling apart and they disintigrate something chronic and they also suffer with water ingress in the R/H fuse box assembly.

I think further investigation need to be carried out to ascertain whether the whole car is imobilzed or whether its just fuel related or spark related or both etc etc....

Hi all, read through pretty much all of the overheating fiesta threads now & cant find one that matches my problem.

Two weeks ago, driving to work the car started to go into the red, so i pulled over, let it cool down & continued to work. When i got there i opened the bonnet & noticed the heater valve inlet hose looked quite swollen, so i touched it, at the point the plastic pipe it connects to disintergrated, covering me in rather hot, smelly, brown coolant.... I am embarking on fitting winter tyres and have obtained a set of used spare rims. There are two types of rim in the set I have - 6JJ x 15H2 which is the same at the rims on the car and 6J x 15CH. Should I be concerned about mixing these different rims? They both have an offset of 39.

Thanks in advance for any advice.... Read more

I think you need to take a tape measure out and see where they actually differ they are probabley the same. One note of caution if you fit winter tyres or all season tyres only very few are actually better than good summer tyres and in fact are extremely dangerous in use other than on snow on some tyres the wet stopping distance is almost double that of good make summer tyres .In recent tests from the ADAC and TUV in Germany only four makes were actuall recommended with Dunlop being the best.I have new Goodyear vector all season tyres which came in the top four but that was more by luck than management on my part.

Thank you for the warning on winter tyres. The reason for my embarking on this venture is that a visit to Switzerland will place me vunerable to their law which is - in winter, no winter tyres, accident, your fault. As well as vunerable to their weather. The whole business seems a nightmare and I will look into the Goodyear Vector solution.
