I am hoping someone can give me some idea of what to do, I feel like I have run out of options with this. I know it goes on a bit but please bear with me.

Back in March 2008 it got to the point where the when braking there was a lot of noise from the back indicating that they were on their way out. Went to local kwikfit and got a deal for four new brake pads and discs . All good until started driving it after and was getting lots of noise and vibration from front which would stop if you touched the brakes.... Read more

Does anybody know how to operate the child locks on a 2009 Mondeo?

I think they come as standard, but I can't figure out how to engage them, I can't find the manual and I'd rather avoid trying to download a copy from a dodgy website.

I can lock the back windows using the button on the window control panel (on the driver's door) and I can centrally lock the doors from the inside using the central locking button on the driver's door, but I can't for the life of me find something that stops the rear doors from being opened from the inside.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Read more

Does the lever move in to 5th position but the gear doesn't engage or will it not go into position?

My 1.4 HDI (8 valve) cooling system appears to have problems. The dash board guage the series of amber/ red lights do not come on for a very long time after strtaing up, then leap to 3 or 4 bars, only to fall back to one or two bars. The engine seems very hot, even when one or two bars are lit on the dash but the cooling fan does not cut in. I have checked all fuses and connectors and I can turn the fan so it is not seized. The car also has aircon, but the fan does not operate when this is turned on, although I can hear the relays actuate. any ideas ?

I found out by accident that from May this year Renault will pay the majority of the cost of the repair for window regulators. I can't remember exactly how much they will pay. It is restricted to cars under 7 years old and less than 100,000 miles. It isn't being generally announced but you will be told this if you take it to the dealers to be fixed.
Unfortunately for me when I found out, my 1.9dci 53 plate owned from new, on 72,000 miles was just having windows 4 and 5 repaired... not at the dealers.
I have been paying for a Warranty Direct warranty since the Renault warranty ended but I still have to pay £50 excess and now that it is over 70,000 miles, 10% of the cost of the part. My car was 12 days over the 7 years and even after I explained about all the problems I have had with my car over the past 7 years (and 12 days) the Customer Support Manager would not make any recompense towards the cost....'as it was over 7 years and there was nothing he could do'
In reality how many owners who are out of Renault warranty will take their cars to a main dealer to get this fixed - very few I would have thought. The Customer Support Manager said they were not contacting all Megane II owners as not all had experienced the problem!
Anyway, pass the word, make sure that Renault pay! Read more

In my area there are quite a lot of civilian volunteers who can sometimes be seen with yellow jackets, homemade looking signs (community speed watch) and an official looking speed gun.

If you get reported by one of these people I understand they pass the number plate to the Police and they may make a visit but can you actually get prosecuted on their say so? I have noticed the operators near me shoot at everything that travels down the road whether they are speeding or not (including cars, joggers, cyclists, invalid carts etc).... Read more

The radio has suddenly packed up (10 amp fuse is ok ). Its not showing in the illuminated display and the CD player has power going to it. Now here's the funny thing. at night when you turn off the lights, the illuminations to the radio and the steering wheel remain lit and I've just discovered they are staying on all the time (24/7). Any brilliant leccies out there who can "throw some light on this" please? Read more

Pull the radio out to see if this kills the lights to the steering wheel. Also some radios have a 10amp fuse clipped into the rear of the unit, near the iso connector.Could be a faulty radio. Not uncommon on vauxhalls.hth

We have just had our 4th child (4 boys!), and now realise our Ford Galaxy (2001 model) is not big enough!!

When I say not big enough, what I mean is it seats the 6 of us no problem at all, but even with the 7th seat removed, there is not enough lugage space. As in a Phil & Teds buggy folded up fills the vacant chair space, so boy No. 1 has to climb over it to reach his seat. Not good, as not safe.... Read more

Don't worry about the op, that's a breeze. It's the 3 or 4 days afterwards when it feels like you've been kicked in the nuts that's the issue.

Good luck with it!

It's probably due to a faulty switch mounted on the steering column. The contacts sometimes break then short out.

Sometimes a sharp bash on the column may clear it but you will need a new switch or one from a breakers....
