We have just had our 4th child (4 boys!), and now realise our Ford Galaxy (2001 model) is not big enough!!
When I say not big enough, what I mean is it seats the 6 of us no problem at all, but even with the 7th seat removed, there is not enough lugage space. As in a Phil & Teds buggy folded up fills the vacant chair space, so boy No. 1 has to climb over it to reach his seat. Not good, as not safe.... Read more
Hi all, 1st post here so apologies if this isn't the place to make introductions.
I'll get to the motoring part of the question in a minute.... Read more
It's probably due to a faulty switch mounted on the steering column. The contacts sometimes break then short out.
Sometimes a sharp bash on the column may clear it but you will need a new switch or one from a breakers....

A friend of mine has an 02 Jeep Cherokee 2.7 deisel. Over the past few weeks, the engine bay has become covered with a layer of soot. Has anyone any idea what can be the cause? The vehicle is only used for short runs.

If the vehicle is otherwise running ok then I would suggest you have a pipe come adfrift either on the engine to the airfilter or from the engine to the egr.
Hello all,
Been told that I could do with a new fuel tank in the long run due to warping (long story), I got a couple of questions:
1) I have a 2001 HDi 90 (Engine RHY or DW10TD) with a Siemens injection system, with the exception of tanks without the additive system (my car doesn't have a particulate sensor) , is the tank specific to that model or do other models use the same tank?
2) Are there any good places to get second hand tanks? I hear that many second hand ones can be just as warped as the one you have fitted and that new is the only way forward, however dealer wanted over £500! <*** src="http://www.peugeotcentral.co.uk/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_surprised.gif" border="0" alt="Surprised" />

dilema I need this done and got one quote for £1800 and one for £700. One mechanic recommended, one tried and failed on different car. What are the pitfalls of having a peugeot engine change? Read more
My C5 has developed a problem of shaking as if she is running on 3 cylinders. As suggestions as to cure for this problem. cheers Read more
Mechanic replacing glow plugs says one is totally jammed and cannot be removed without taking off the cylinder head (3 day job!) They have tried everything they can think of to get it out but no joy so are just replacing the others and leaving it there for now. Can't say I am happy about this but being non-technical don't feel able to comment constructively. Any thoughts anyone? Read more
Moved to Technical.
If, thanks to my EGR valve, I have to crank the starter for nearly 10 secs before it'll start and the 'Car with the spanner' comes on it'll tick over, and drive very nicely indeed!
If however the engine starts instantly on the first turn of the starter the engine idles smoothly for 5 or 6 seconds before it dies. Repeating this even if I restart unless I rev continuously and it drives with lack of power which comes and goes in waves. I have 5 or 6 seconds of power followed by 2 or 3 of power loss this cycle repeats predictively .... Read more
Thanks for your help guy's I appreciate it.
Replaced oil cap, didn't help, it's still the same but it needed replacing anyway.
Disconnected connector on EGR valve...now runs like a dream. I'm taking the egr valve off to give it a good clean and try it then.
If I have no joy with it, Am I better off replacing it or going to Vauxhall and getting it blanked off and the ECU re-programed? Is it true that after around 80,000 miles the engine will simply clog a new one up with carbon within 12 months? There's also some debate on whether or not blanking it off and having the re-program affects fuel economy and performance.

Don't worry about the op, that's a breeze. It's the 3 or 4 days afterwards when it feels like you've been kicked in the nuts that's the issue.
Good luck with it!
