C class 2002 C220CDI - Mercedes glow plug jammed - anthonyf

Mechanic replacing glow plugs says one is totally jammed and cannot be removed without taking off the cylinder head (3 day job!) They have tried everything they can think of to get it out but no joy so are just replacing the others and leaving it there for now. Can't say I am happy about this but being non-technical don't feel able to comment constructively. Any thoughts anyone?

M-B have a "rattle gun" tool preset to a torque which will (just) not break these plugs. It doesn't always work.

These diesels are so poor as a long term prospect that I would leave the stuck glowplug in the engine - it will start perfectly well on the remaining good ones.

To fool the dashboard indicator, screw a good plug onto the chassis somewhere in a safe place and connect it to the loom at the faulty plug. I'm afraid this is the sort of treatment this engine deserves.
