If you fit it so that it is no longer attached to the engine then you may need concertina pipe-work which is not the best for that application`s airspeed/flow.Obviously you wouldn`t want it at such an angle/location that an ingress of water proved problematic.It is placed on top of the engine for several good reasons,what do you hope to gain by moving it?
