I have posted about this problem before but still I am struggling.

I have replaced all parts on the rear brakes on my 306 estate. This has had new pads/discs (mintex) re-con calipers, brake fluid and handbrake cable etc.... Read more

If you had it MOTd directly after fitting the pads the efficiency would be low as it takes some time for them to bed in, especially on the rear as they don't do much most of the time.

Which would be a better time to buy a used car - August or September (or October?)

I'm thinking that the dealers (and private buyers) might be feeling the pressure of lack of interest due to the summer holidays, but on the other hand there will be lots of turnover from the plate change so there might be greater volume in September pushing the prices down. Or would this effect filter into the 2nd hand market in October?... Read more

A lot of you have joined us since we re-launched the forum back in March. Whether you're a new or long-standing member, it might be fun to find out what sort of car you drive.

If you like, by all means also say where you live and / or what you do for a living - but there's no pressure and please ignore this whole thread if you prefer!... Read more

Hiatus for medical reasons but normal driver is Landrover Defender 110, in the garage, a Morgan 4/4 with a hairy engine and in the shed, a Morgan Super Sports Aero, the three wheeled variety.

The three wheeler is the most fun by a long way and unlike some other veterans has enough power to have overtaken some modern cars!

Hi,

I hope people can help. I have a 2004 Honda CR-V 2.0 SE Auto which I bought just over 2 years ago from a Honda franchise. It had about 17500 miles on the clock. I am now looking to sell the car but have a lot less than a FSH. The car was serviced just before I bought it but I have not had it done in the last 2 years (I realise my error).... Read more

Just to book end this string (unless there are any offers out there??), the car was serviced today with no reported problems and the usual checks/changes for the age (oil change, spark plugs etc etc etc). Will get in on Autotrader and other sites/

Thanks

My brake light & alternator light started coming on intermitently and very dim and as the days have passed they have become brighter but still intermitent but seems to be more with the brake pedal pressed, it still comes on when just driving. The brakes are working just fine. The brake front pad light has alos come on but the pads are just fine.

Hi,

I have recently acquired a 1997 fiat punto. When I took it to the petrol station it won't fill up, just puts a pound or two in then clicks off. This is despite the fuel tank showing empty. ... Read more

There is a temp sensor at the side of the throttle body this causes the problem as you have proved the throttle body ok which would give the same symptons,as I have said you need to take it to a fiat agent as they will see this a lot its a common fault on a number of Fiat engines. If the mechanic has proved the throttle body is ok then this will save you a lot of money.I looked back the bill from Fiat for the sensor and fitting was £79.

Comments from experts please. I plan to extend the service interval on my Suzuki by about 2k miles (due 53k, to 55k), because of work commitments. Service interval is 9k on this vehicle and it has been serviced to schedule by Suzuki and the last dealer service used Fuchs high spec oil. My normal driving is 50 miles each way to places of work, usually a dual carriageway medium speed cruise. I intend to keep the vehicle for a lot more miles. My view is that the extended interval will not be in any way detrimental to the engine. Vehicle is 3 yrs old. Does anyone disagree?. Read more

Why not slip the oil change in yourself and get the rest of the service done when you have the time, it's out of warranty anyway and would be going 2K over service interval.

Oil changes i one thing i wouldn't skimp on keeping a car long term.
