Appreciate some advice on how the durability aspect of the SOGA act applies to cars.
I e if a part such as an exhaust fails on a second hand car after 9 months would this be considered durable? (my view probably Yes)... Read more
I have purchased recently an Audi A4 almost 4 years old (Reg. Oct.2006) While it is in good condition generally, the brightwork which I understand is Aluminium (not Chrome) has discoloured in places with what appears like a milky or while paint mark. A friend said the car may have been frequently washed in a car was and this was the cause of the problem...Can anyone suggest a remedy to restore the brightwork ? another friend said there is a special aluminium cleaner? not the one used for chrome? but I have not found this product to date. Any ideas please Read more
I had this on aluminium brightwork in the 1970s. Oxidation caused by penetration of the lacquer top coat.

- an old subject but no less a problem. I 've had this 2 litre petrol for 8 years and dearly love it. It was perhaps Ford's test mule for the X type Jaguar, how else could a $6 billion R&D budget percolate through to us humble Brits. Has anyone experience of the rather costly process of 'refurbishing' ie stripping and repairing and powder coating of the wheels ? Read more

A remarkably restrained interview on both sides. How about asking the local authorities for the individual accident data to prove the need for the speed cameras (not all 6000) especially the one HJ complained about. Anyone done that and how? Read more

I have just accquired a 2.0 litre SE Voyager with 93500 miles on the clock and I need to clarify a few things.
Firstly on the car by car reviews it states that the 2.0 litre engine is cam chain driven but looking under the bonnet I have noticed that there is a timing belt cover and not a chain cover. Does anyone know when the belt is due to be changed?... Read more
Listened to you this morning on radio 4 news discussing cameras. The other guy was a typical pro camera anorak so whatever you said he had the usual claptrap answer. However I think you should have been more assertive about this business of cameras being blatantly sited at places where no accidents had resulted in deaths.
In my area of Bournemouth/Christchurch practically every camera is at a spot which has not had serious accidents if any. I tackled my local camera Stasi and they absolutely refused to answer my question of how many deaths had happened at certain camera locations. You were dead right as all it is, is money and jobs for the parasite boys in the civil service. The sooner they are all out of jobs the better and I will celebrate that, and I bet the rate of deaths will hardly change. Read more
