Hi all. I only have 1.5 volts supplying coils 4 and 6.All other coils have 10.5 volts being supplied. I have traced the wiring which seems ok to the bulkhead but cant seem to find it again under the passenger footwell where im presuming it should enter the ecu. Autodata doesnt list a wiring diagram for this model so does anybody know of a possible cause for this or know where i can download a wiring diagram?? Thanks for your help. Read more

Above car purchased 10/2006. Regularly serviced by Peugot dealer. 21k mileage.

Recently power steering unit failed at a cost £650. Replaced by Peugot dealer who advised me to contact Peugot Customer Care Unit .This I did with the expectation that in view of the low mileage Peugot would consider a contribution to the cost.... Read more

Sorry to hear your tale of woe but its becoming all to familier now. Most modern cars are less reliable and more expensive to repair than the older ones. The only real way to keep costs down is to do your own repairs as I have done all my life and I am now 71. For the same reason I will not run a car made later the the mid '90s largely because you can't repair them yourself. £650.00 is more than I usually pay for a car and they are much more durable than modern cars, I have three Citroen XMs, one has covered in excess of 250,000 miles and is still going well, I can't see many new cars doing that.

Most manufacturers just don't seem to care, I think the problem is that if they accept responsibility for one claim it will open the floodgates. I think as cars become more and more electronically controlled the are going to be even less reliable - as demonstrated by Toyota recently....

Back in Feb, I was witness to my neighbours car being hit whilst parked in the private car park for our flats.

At the time of the incident the female driver, got out of the car and inspected the damage along with her male passenger and gave me her details on request. At no point was there a dispute that she A- hit the car and B- was responsible for the damage.... Read more

Hi, i have a LHD Seat ibiza and i live in spain. It has a VW 1.4 AEX engine.

The tappets are noisy. Any idea if they will cure themselves with it being hydraulic tappets or is replacement only option? (its an old car dont want to spend out on it), drives ok i guess though.Speedo reads 129,000 ms (80k miles) but based on the crook i bought it off, it6s prob false.... Read more

I will be taking my car to the SEAt dealer in Benisano, near where i live, hopefully they will sort it but from what i have read, i think it is faulty sensor, well thats the misfiring anyway, i dont know if their computer can sort the noisy tappets out also as they are hydraulic and cant be adjusted.

I purchased this car in Nov 09 new and I can't get any better than 34MPG. I've done 6k miles so far a mix of motorway and town. I manually work out the consumption by filling up to brim then driving out the petrol, and seeing how much it takes to fill the tank again.

I really expected a bit more, from my mx5 1.8 I regularly get over 40MPG. I know it's marginal, but it's put me right off the car and is fairly expensive to run - anyone got a diesel Mazda 3? Read more

How hard are you presssing the loud pedal ?. Driving like a vicar, once your engine is bedded in I would expect you to get mid forties. My wife averages 41mpg on her 55 mile rural road round trip to work. She drives an 07 plate Mazda 3 TS 1.6 petrol which she has had from new. ( she doesn't spare the horses!)

I'm afraid that this is how modern cars are getting, few of them seem as durable as the '90s cars. They are the only cars I run.

Getting back to the off duty cop not mentioning his child was ill to the ticketing officer, he had probably read Martin Thwaite's book. Say as little as possible, don't incriminate yourself, accept the ticket and argue the case later. And win.

Hi,
I've brought up this problem before in other forums but had no luck as to getting an answer so i thought i'd try again elsewhere as the problem is getting more frequent.

I've been having throttle problems where basically i'll be driving along and my revs will just cut out. The engine wont stall but i do usually have to take my foot off the accelerator pedal then re apply to get my revs back.

I've cleaned the throttle body and sprayed carb cleaner into the intake but thats done nothing.

The problem is very intermittent and patternless. I've also had it checked on the computer but no codes have come up, (although admittedly it was only checked on a elm 327 diagnosis tool. Not a dealer one)

The possibilities i've thought of are faulty fly by wire pedal, faulty MAF, faulty throttle body i'e built in sensor, faulty ecu. I'm no mechanic though so these are pure guesses.

If anyone has ever had this problem and fixed it please let me know otherwise i'm gonna start replacing things which probably don't need replaced. Read more

In response to WellKnownSid , the 500 is doing a fantastic job for FIAT. They're not only on the much wanted list, they're decently finished and proving to be very reliable. Have had problems with choked DPFs on diesels but not much else in the two and a half years they've been on the UK market.
