I'm looking to buy a GPS type bottom end of the market nothing elaborate. The Novus Piccolo and Inforad K1 seem to be popular. I just want them to do the essential thing of alerting me in the vicinity of a fixed camera but I don't want to be constantly reminded if I drift over the speed limit in a camera free stretch and I seem to get the impression that they do that. Any help please? Read more

I once dated one! The less said about that the better - but she made a string of men (I found out later) really suffer. So charming though for the first few months...

Looking at the smallprint for the latest 'deal' from peugeot it says you put a deposit down (ok),pay a monthly fee (still ok), then optionally make a 'final' payment (still normal!) to keep the car. Trouble is you dont actually OWN the car but have to pay a yearly fee just to keep it, not own it so you cant sell it or trade it! On the face of it, this seems crazy, unless I've missed something obvious. Read more

That sounds more like a leasing plan rather than a purchase plan.

Lease rentals are, if you are a business, allowable as a revenue expense to be offset against your profits. You can offset the total of the rentals paid during your current financial year....

I hope the combined knowledge of H-J can solve this one.

The car starts and runs up to temp as normal, but after about 20 mins the engine looses all power and splutters to a halt, after waiting for it to cool, it will re-start reluctantly and limp home.... Read more

Check for a spark the next time it fails.

Then at least you'll know if you're looking for a fuel or electrical problem....

Hello! I have also posted this on the Evo forums but trying to get a varied response. Here goes...

Basically, I am looking for a new car, brand new OR used, depending on value/finance options. I am specifically looking for something that your less likely to find on the road compared to a more popular car like a Fiesta. I'm looking for something more rare, and/or something new on the market, something unusual.... Read more

This thread is rather old but what the hell it's a fun one for a friday afternoon.

There is no way I would spend 12k on a car in this situation if I had only recently passed. But another interesting but sensible choice could be a Suzuki Swift....

Our Nissan Note is the first car we've had with that new fangled Air con thingy. Up until now opening the windows has been good enough for us.

This weekend however with the wonderful weather we gave the air con a good testing. Very nice, but Herself complained that the air became too dry and made breathing difficult for her. We tried opening the windows a bit which seemed to ease the situation a little. Having the windows almost fully open with the air con running was about the best we could come with, but seems to make air con almost pointless.... Read more

In response to some of the above ...

The climate on my Peugeot 407 HDi is always on and I get 60mpg on a steady run. That'll do even if the aircon take some....

Hi all,

I bought a Peugeot 206 Roland Garros 1.4 automatic 2000 reg about 2 weeks ago from a local garage/dealer. Cost me £2,200, looked to be in great condition, had 60k miles on clock and had MOT done after deposit.... Read more

Does anyone have experience of running a Picasso as well a Verso or a CRV Mk2 or an X-trail? I'm planning on trading in my Picasso for one of the above.

How does the space in the boot compare? Which is the most spacious for three car seats? (assuming the Verso's boot is full and the extra two aren't being used).... Read more

No worries - for some reason your post appeared twice and I removed one of them. Sorry - the software rather inflexibly assumes that anything removed is offensive.

We have just fitted the fourth battery in five years to our 05 2.2 diesel auto Grande Espace. The Renault garage has no ideas and don't seemd to think this is odd. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? The last one lasted 3 months and that was after the alternator had also been changed. Read more

Had this problem a while. So far have changed all pipework in engine bay, leak off pipes, priming bulb and O rings on fuel filter housing. Even so, after about 4-5 hours standing it needs to be primed before it will start. When priming I can hear the fuel filter housing refilling with diesel. Can anyone give me any pointers on this one?

Following on from the excellent advice above,if you find yourself without a clip small enough to secure the leak-back pipes in place?......what I`ve done many a time is snipped a piece off my roll of thin stainless-steel locking wire, wrapped it around pipe twice and tightened.Obviously don`t overdo it or else you`ll cut through the pipe!
