got a bit of a problem with this berlingo, as it cuts out after 20 minutes..

hoe the problem happs is that it warms it as any car would normally, then the engine management system light comes on you can then drive it for around 2 more minutes then it cuts out.. you can normally re-start and it will go for around 30 yards and cut out again. if you turn it over and leave it standing it runs but as soon as you put the revs up to 2000 it cuts out?

anyone any ideas

o and it normally cuts out when it is going uphill.. Read more

I think I have a Philips DC670 radio cassette, it looks like one on following web page:

tinyurl.com/6eb8jw {link to ice.dndservices.co.uk severely shrunken to restore page width}

At night there is no illumination on the radio front & LCD display, so I cannot see band, station selected & pushbuttons

Can the LCD display & pushbuttons be illuminated & how do I get it illuminated ?? Read more

Another problem with this radio.
Should the radio remember which station preset was being used when you switch off ??
When my engine cuts out the radio switches off forgets the radio Station/Band being used
& resets to a default setting (MW preset 1) when I switch back on.
I assume it shouldn't do this what is the likely fault ??

I now think it forgets Station/Band being used when I switch off ignition with the radio on.

If I switch radio off first, then swich off ignition, I think radio does not lose its settings.

Don't think radio should do this & is faulty, but it's a workaround.

What causes a brand new diesel car to smoke under any acceleration?

My father in law has bought a Renault Modus and it smokes like a cross channel ferry!

I once saw the same thing on a brand new Focus a few years back. It's so bad I reckon he could get stopped by plod. Read more

My Dad's Golf Diesel did this until we gave it an italian tune up -
not only did it stop smoking but he got an extra 3 miles to the
gallon!

Father in law does a lot of driving in the city as a surveyor. I guess it isnt being thrashed that often so maybe I'll tell him to drive like Fangio for a mile or so and clear his pipes out!

Hi everyone. I'm looking into buying a new Toyota Yaris 1.3TR - any advice - good or bad....?

Any idea on what sort of deal I can get on it - OTR £10,045 - thought I may get a good deal if I offer cash - thought I would maybe try and knock them down 10% or if this too much???

Your views much appreciated! Read more

Hi

This message carries on from my other posting "engine cut out whilst driving". Basically I was driving on the motorway and the engine died.

The garage has confirmed that the cambelt has slipped about 5 teeth and damaged two valves. The cost of the repair is estimated at 500 to 600 quid.

I would like to know is this price about right?

What do you think would be the best thing for me to do in your opinion; do i repair it and hope the repair is ok, or should I get rid?

I'm worried that if the repairs are done there is a possiblity of it still not working, is this correct?

Do I have any other options?

Thanks Read more

Hi

I have just had the HT leads, plugs and coil changed after problems with a faulty lead. At the garage this morning the mechanic reset the EMU and the light went out, but when I drove the car this afternoon the light was back on again, permanently.

Please help - what could this mean?

I need to drive 250 miles tomorrow for a funeral and am really worried incase I damage the enginge

Any responses gratefully accepted

What year is it and what stored code originally put the light on?

My 2.2 CTDI Accor Tourer has recently started having starting problems. The car is an 06 with about 26000 miles on the clock.

I first noticed this last Friday and the problem is intermittent. When I turn they key the engine turns over an fails to start. It sometimes takes 4 attempts before it starts. Other times it starts first go. Once started it runs fine.

I have noticed that when it doesn't start the yellow (glow plug?) light to the right of the handbrake light does not come on when you turn the key. When the light does come on the car starts.

Anyone experienced this? Any ideas what the cause is.

It may be a coincidence, but I filled the tank just before it started to happen. Could it be dodgy diesel?

Thanks for any help. Read more

Helicopter, where are you in the country? Would you like to name and praise a Honda dealer, I've been left tepid by the abilities of those I've used?

My car stood in the sun for three hours after a gentle motorway run of 40 km. When we got in it the dash temp gauge read 39 degrees C Ambled back at gentle 70 and at home thought I would check my oil. Well I still have red but not blistered marks on two fingers and one thumb off the bonnet prop !!!

Forget frying an egg this would have fried a batch of chips.

Can the plastic parts under the bonnet stand any temperature or will my car shut down in disgust one of these days with a dash message "stuff this too hot"

What are they designed to cope with ?

Appreciate your views. thanks. PS car lives near Murcia. Read more

Hello

I'm having trouble with my 1.4 16v 2002 Clio. Basically it doesn't like starting in the morning, there is a smell of petrol on start up, fuel consumption is high and the car is jerky on acceleration and deceleration. I've cleaned the crank sensor (but not replaced it) and that hasn't worked. Any suggestions.

Thanks
