Southampton to Goole tonight, leaving 15:45 , heading M3 A34 A43 M1 M18. Where are the major holdups likely to be ? I assume things will have quietened down by the time I get to Notts / S Yorks.
Normally I do this run on a Saturday morning and it takes just over four hours. Is it worth taking an hour out at the worst time to feed the family? Read more
Has anybody every tried reporting a smoky vehicle?
I've emailed enquiries@vosa.gov.uk 3 times over the past year reporting an apallingly smoky school bus. I often see it around, and nothing has ever been done about it. It leaves a smoke screen behind it everytime it pulls away or accelerates, and is the worst ever vehicle to be stuck behind in traffic.
What is the point of this scheme? Read more
less obstrucesive
or more obstructive ?
On the way to work this morning I was coming towards a 20mph zone, although not actually in it.It was a "School Zone".It was 6:30am and it showed 20 Slow Down, think my speed was around 30mph at the time.I didn't think these limits were in operation at this time.Is this just a "warning".Incidentally I think this is a good idea just a bit concerned that I've been "done" at a time I would class to be outside of the "busy period" i.e children going to school, lunch etc Read more
The school up the road from me opens at 7am and closes at 7pm. It takes kids from 2 years to 11. It offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. People are coming and going all day. And yes, the school zone signs operate from 6.30am.

The few AA vehicles we've sold were no better maintained, than any other fleet.
You do need to consider though, the van WILL have been worked to maximum weight capacity, at all times, plus a good deal of towing, too.
Arguably, the towing won't be too weighty, or for great distances.
Beware the bad paintwork repairs, when body damage is more apparent, once the livery is removed - it's VERRRRY hard to match AAA yaellow!
As for the VW segment on their fleet, I do remember them only having minimal trials with the Transporter & placed a rather large order, more or less as soon as the first few were in service.
Seems they were happy with them.

I take it you don't like the Kaiser Chiefs then? : )
:^D Whatever gives you that idea?!
Them, or any of the other copycat, boring, 'indie' bands (Artic Monkeys, The Ordinary Boys, etc, etc"
Motoring related: I never listen to the radio in my car, as all they play is the above mentioned dross. ;o)
When I lock my 406 Coupe using the remote, the nearside indicators sometimes stay lit (without flashing) until I unplug the battery. I understand that a quick fix is to bypass the electronics that make the indicators flash when the car is locked. Would someone be able to advise me on how to do this?
My Coupe is a 99 2.0 D8 model (i've not had much luck on peugeot406coupe.com with this one)

Dad's Picasso (1.6 HDI 110) is supposed to have automatically activated hazard lights in commom with most of the Citroen range. They don't work.
The dealer has said that they have several cars not doing this, including a C4 and C8, has anybody else had problems with hazard lights not activating in the event of hard braking?
Cheers Read more
I have a C5 and have driven several C2 and C3 with emergency brake assistance and hazard light activation, the easiest way to activate them is to press the accelerator hard, then to hit the brake very quickly. You don't need to brake very very hard, just quick and moderate pressure is enough.
Trying to source small quantity of Esso CVT Fluid (EZL799) Seems to only be available in 20L pack. Any ideas please.

>available in 5L from BMW dealers
True but not in silver filigree edge can. When I phoned local BMW
to enquire was informed that " Yes we do have that fluid but its in our bulk stocks. You can have 5L if you bring a suitable container" So I did,on Friday afternoon - V. flash showroom with parts counter discreetly tucked away next to service desk. V. smart suited gentleman in charge who relieved me of the plastic 5L container and disappeared out the back. Returned in about l5mins with Oily hands bearing now filled container. Apologies for delay and pre apology for having to go and wash hands before proceeding with transaction. Returns to counter 5mins later attacks keyboard of computer - printer generates small mountain of paperwork including invoice giving full details of fluid spec. and final total of £25.OO. Fair do's. I thought it was well done by Wellsway of Bath.
Aprilia: as far as I am aware this box is not ZF. and I was told some years ago that it was of Ford production. Dr. Dave quite positive about the unsuitable nature of the Unipart product.

There's no simple to describe diversion around that part either. In particular, it's very questionable if going round the side coming up to the M30 on the A34 stretch is worth it - I'm never convinced.
