steering wheel lets out a slight hiss when i turn to the right and feels a bit 'loose and shakey'. do you think it is just a case of getting the tracking sorted as this is a bit out.
when i say loose and shakey i dont mean it feels like it gonna come off but just doesnt have that solid feel of the road.
any ideas? Read more

sisters car got written off yesterday by a lovely guy in a road sweeper. she had a 306 Dturbo and really loved it. she wants a diesel again as she drives quite a bit,but only around town.
ive tried sugesting a nice little 1.2.
she changes her mind every 2 minutes as what to get(typical female). probably only gonna have around £1500 to spend.
any ideas and things to watch out for? Read more

Now you know why so many of us live in the north where life is far more relaxed, far more pleasant and without the threat of Two Jags (+ nubile extras) John Prescott trying to make us even worse off.

Talk about a chip on one's shoulder...:-)

Hi it's my first visit here. please be gentle :)

I've had a slight problem and wondered if it was a common fault or mine is just a one off.

My clutch pedal stuck down, the main dealer told me the pedal had broken where it was welded, he has rewelded it, as he said it would take a while to order a new one. He said he had never seen that happen on a Fabia before but had on Octavias, also the new pedals are plastic. Which brings me to are plastic ones better?

The car is 6 years old and I've had it for nearly half it's life.

Thanks for that Roger, I'm a bit to far away though.
Got her back this afternoon, both bearings done, she now isn't making a noise, and running a bit smoother than she was when she went in.......(I still haven't worked out yet though why there never used to be a noise until they welded the peddle ) however, now they tell me it isn't urgent but a front coil spring and a roll bar is needed. Oh well such is the joys of the motoring world :)

After weeks of research I've realised that the 710 hasn't made it to the UK yet. Is it worth waiting or should I get a 700. what's the big difference. Read more

Hi,

The airbag light was coming on and off for a while, probably due to my wife storing stuff under the seat and affecting the wiring and a "wiggle" down there seemed to cure it.

I dont drive the car often and when I did recently, noticed it is on ALL the time. As the car is 10 yrs old I don't want to spend serious money on this. I already need to find a clip to stop the drivers window from falling forward and a regulator for the e.window on passenger side AND 2 discs!!! Anyway...

Can I disconnect the battery, leave a while and safely work on where I think the problem is?

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks

Well if it is the control module : tinyurl.com/lpwfp

well the rear washer jet seems to have stopped working on the mondeo.

I investigated the cause and it turns out that the water in the rear seems to be collecting in the boot rather than washing the screen.

Now would you expect this to be covered under warranty on a 16month old car?

Ford seem to say no, I think its a design flaw.

Anyone else had a similar issue? Read more

This was a problem on the early Mondeo estates when the passengers in the back seat received a dowsing; the kids thought it was hilarious. I'd have thought Ford would have got it sorted by now!

I have a 1997 primera and the rear screen washer has ceased to work.

Does anyone know where the pump is located?

i sort of hope it is just a dodgy pump, and not a disconnected tube. Read more

The pump will be where you put your water in,there may be 2 pumps you will need to find and look, post back and supply the knowledge in case mine ever packs up....thanks

Morning all

we're looking at a couple of cars at the moment. Two estates - both september 2004, both the same price. One is a top of the range model, 1.9 diesel with 50k on the clock, the other is a more base model 1.6 petrol with 12k on the clock. Both have been on the forecourt for a couple of months.

I like the idea of diesel but we do about 8k miles a year, and the 50k miles in 18 months is making me a little wary.

What do you all think - which would be the model to go for. I'm erring towards the petrol - any thoughts/ideas?

Basically, different cars have differing "brake pedal feelings", some feel soft and squishy, with plenty of travel. Others have little travel and are quite firm, sometimes even sharp.

Personally, I prefer the softer approach, as it's easier to drive smoothly.

I've driven hydraulic Citroens for about 25 years and have got used to the zero travel braking, takes some getting used to but very reassuring, the softer approach used by most other manufacturers is initially scary I rest my foot on the pedal and nothing happens:-)) then as the panic sets in I push harder and everything is OK, I guess it's what you are used to. The only thing I do notice with most servo brakes is that the braking force seems to increase without exerting more pressure on the pedal so you need to gently back off to keep the braking level the same.
