Forum New Evo IX
johnj

Hi

Just bought a new Mitsubishi Evolution IX 06 reg - the car has however been in the UK for nearly 12 months (the alarm was fitted in the UK on 1 June 2005). I guess the car has just been sat around for that time - should I be concerned? I have raised with the dealer and he says its covered by 3 year warranty so dont worry.

Sorry? Are you saying Evo's hang around unsold for 12 months?

Hi,

This summer I may be doing quite a lot of driving, mixture of motorway and country roads. I was just wondering which would be most economical to run a Honda Jazz 1.4 automatic or a 1.3 Escort. The Honda has a much more modern engine but the escort has very high gearing. Was just wondering everyone's opinion.

The HCS OHV can do 45MPG with a carb like the AA guy said, but I wouldn't think you could get that with the fuel injection model at early nineties standards. Probably around 40+MPG still though.

I've finally deserted Citroen in favour of a Focus 1.8 TDCi 115PS Lx and have been impressed by that engine, the performance which is a bit of an eye opener after BXs & Xantia diesels, the gear change, how well screwed together it is and surprisingly enough (having come from 30 years of Citroen Hydraulic magic carpet ride) the ride is pretty good too. The only problem is the seats in the Lx, I just can't get a comfortable position, mostly because there is no tilt adjustment on the squab and no lumbar either.

Does anyone know if the Ghia version offers these adjustments and would one fit if I could find one at a scrap yard? Failing that any recommendations for an aftermarket seat, bearing in mind I'm used to the Citroen armchair sort of seat?

Focus Ghia seats have mechanical lumbar adjustment and electric height adjustment. The thing I like about the Ghia seats is that they don't have side bolsters. I find that the contact pressure of side bolsters promotes bursitis in my thighs.

Hi all
I am new to the back room but would like to ask I have a ford granada est , If I had a report done by the AA or RAC will they be able to tell me if the recondition gear Box I paid for has been put in . Read more

Do you have some reason to doubt that the reconditioned unit has been fitted? Does the car feel unchanged? Was the clutch done at the same time?

I am currently looking for a new/used 8-seater car.

So far I've only found the Toyota Land Cruiser (but not overly keen on a 4x4) and the Toyota Previa, although the new models appear to be only 7-seaters.

Please could anyone advise of any other 8-seaters on the market????

Thanks

Was in "Curry's Digital" today and they had an Inforad at £30 (last one) Bought it home, tried to download management software from their home page and received "Forbidden

I've emailed them, but guess there'll be noone in the office until Tuesday, and there's nothing worse than having a new toy and not being able to play with it. Might be worth others looking out for the same deal. It was said to be cheap at £80, and at £30....!

If IBM made cars, they would never break down and would always get from A to B faster and more safely than anything else.

Oh and you couldnt afford one.

Do all Ford Focus's consume dipped headlight bulbs voraciously, or is it just mine. I seem to be getting through each side bulb every 3 - 6 months?? Mine is a 2002 (new front) 1.6 Zetec. Read more

Also the quality of the bulb may be a factor, some cheaper bulbs may go quicker.

Have you tries something like Osram silverstars or Philips vision plus? As this may help

OK, I know there has been a lot of discussion about Rovers etc.

My father has been offered a Rover 75 diesel with 15 miles on the clock for £6K - A local (to him) trader has apparently got a batch of them coming in. Sales are going to be to the first people with the cash.

Sounds too good to be true ? What should he look at / for ?

I understand they were registered last year and have just been released by the administrators. Read more

Murphy,

I usually get howled down as a Rover knocker and you are right there are posts after posts on THIS board saying parts are freely available but do a quick look around the net and there are dozens of stories on other sites about Rovers being off the road for a few weeks because there is a run on part X.

As I say £6k is a pull your arm off price for a car to run for 5 years and then scrap.

But if you want to sell a year down the line who will buy?

TVM is on with the bet although I should point out I an in Asia until the end of June but will be happy for him to buy me the comestibles late June early July.

Getting exciting this.

Citroen are hard-selling these at the moment, and as a by-product of this sales drive got my hands on one for a couple of hours yesterday evening.

In often crawling Friday evening pre-bank holiday London traffic it behaved impeccably and was easy to drive and position. A 1.6 HDI110 example, it went extremely well once on the move with terrific acceleration. This example also had huge wheels with low-profile tyres, so felt very firm for a Citroen, but lolloped over speed bumps with beatifully quiet 1,700 miles old suspension.

I wd have liked to get it on the road, but couldn't, although a bit of urban motorway enabled me to fiddle with the characteristically-surging cruise control.

It must be terrible if all those pretty lcd screens go out though. And the central rearview mirror encroached strangely on the view through the screen. And there was a bit of roughness or vibration in initial clutch bite. Lovely motor though, as it ought to be for a posted 16.5k. Read more

Hi,

I've recently bought my girlfriend a N reg fiesta 1.1. Basically, it came without a red key. I would like to program another key to use with the car, but is this possible to do without the red master key?

If so, can i buy and program a new red key?

thanks in advance

richard. Read more

bell boy

a decent key shop can clone you another black key with chip (about £40 or less) but to get a red key you really need the dealer and its about £100+
