  • 2003 Ford Mondeo - Dials dropping to 0 11 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Hi RE: 2008 1.8 Ford Mondeo - 74,000miles on clock. Purchased in January. I am due to make a 400 mile trip this weekend and whilst driving at any speed the dials have suddenly starting dropping to zero, then shooting back up again.
  • Ford Explorer LPG misfire on petrol 16 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Recently I bought a 2000 model Ford Explorer converted to run on LPG (dual-fuel - Romano system; no idea whether it's fully sequential or not) When running on LPG, it runs lovely and smooth, but when I switch to petrol (it needs to start up on petrol, then switches over) it runs with the most appalling misfire.
  • 96 ford mondeo vibration 5 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Hi, I own a 95 Ford Mondeo 1.8lx with 105k on the clock. i have recently been experiencing an intermittent but harsh vibration at speeds of anywhere over 50mph which are only present under load. as soon as i lift off the throttle it disappears. it is intermittent and can run for several miles on the motorway with no sign of the problem but then it gradually reappears. there is no loss of power - only an increase in the vibration when i apply the accelerator. the problem is not evident at lower speeds and happens at high revs 3rd gear, 4th and 5th gears - presumably because i get to a high enough speed?
  • Ford Focus brake pad wear indicator? 1 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Reason for asking is that my Sister-in-Law's car failed it's MOT allegedly for worn front brake pads. The Ford dealer insisted that the pads would need replacing for the car to pass the MOT. The old pads were 'unfortunately' disposed of before the hefty bill was paid. There was no sign of braking problems or warnings before the MOT.
  • De-cat exhaust - Mondeo 23 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Or will I need to replace the cat every time I have an MOT? Secondly, I was intending to get a Ford exhaust, ( haven't checked the price yet, but I guess it will be around £400 for the cat back). Are after market systems well made and would they be designed to produce the low back pressue which my current Ford exhaust system produces.
  • engine quiting. Ford Puma 9 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Driving home today the engine died in my 1.7 ford puma. while driving along. Rolled to a stop. Engine wouldn't start, left it for a few minutes when it started again. Drove it home and sometimes it would seem to stop for a fraction of a second and then start backup as you could see the dash lights go thru their start up sequence and power would drop for a little bit.
  • Damaged bumper - Ford Sierra 26 Oct 2006 (Forum)
This morning I stupidly reversed my Ford Sierra into a low lying set of brick steps and have damaged the rear left corner of my bumper (not sure if that part is actually the bumper) - but anyway it's no longer fully connected round the corner but still feels secure.
  • ford focus mis-firing problems!! 13 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Hello, i was wondering whether anyone could help? i have a 1998 ford focus 1.8 (petrol) and it is acting very bizarrely..... 1) Pre-ignition it has engine noises (pinking) but it starts fine. 2) when the engine is ticking over it idles erratically, even when warmed up. 3) engine is mis-firing throughout the driving speed range, except possibly at high speeds (over about 50mph) and lastly 4) engine hesitates on acceleration.
  • Ford KA burning smell!! 15 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Dear all Looking for some help and advice on a '99 Ford Ka. Bit of a novice with motor-related matters so apologies if this sounds somewhat naive. Sister's Ka with almost 90,000 miles has developed a worrying smell of something burning around the driver's side wheel arch / wheel itself.
  • Coolant and brake fluid questions? 4 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Halfords own? 3/ The Mondeo requires brake fluid to Ford spec ESD-M6C57-A, Haynes also say Super DOT 4, will any Super DOT 4 fluid meet this Ford standard? 4/ Haynes state DOT 4 for the Clio, I assume I can use Super DOT 4? Many thanks.
  • embarrasing mods 27 Apr 2006 (Forum)
What is the worst, most embarrasing modifiction you have done to your own personal vehicle? Back in my student days, I had a Mk5 Ford Cortina. I did the following mods: 1. Put BIG chrome exhaust tip on exhaust pipe 2. Took ford badge off rear bootlid, sanded the back down and repainted yellow and re-attached (i.e. so ford logo was on yellow not blue background) 3.

  • Ford Fiest Zetec std. Alloys 25 Sep 2005 (Forum)
My partner has just bought a new(ish) 2005 model 1.4 liter Ford Fiesta Zetec 'climate' shod with 15" alloys and 195/50 tyres as standard fit and quite ridiculous, really, if you think of it. This setup does nothing for the ride comfort of the car which frankly is agricultural.
  • Ford New Car Warranties 16 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Does anyone out there understand their Ford warranty ? I have a just 2 year old Focus Zetec, and when I asked them to check a minor idling problem during the 2 year service they said that the diagnostic was chargeable ?? Having read the warranty I have to say that I'm confused, as it seems to say that the first year is a 'base' warranty with unlimited mileage, with free of charge 2 year extension to 'Classic' cover.
  • Over inflation! 8 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Picked up a new Ford Fiesta Zetec 'climate' yesterday from our main Ford Dealers and am very pleased with it, however the ride felt a bit firm and so having driven home the 1.5 miles from the garage decided to check the tyre pressures.
  • Severe Rocker Failure Ford Fiesta 30 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Hi all, When I pulled off the M-way after a 2 hr drive on Monday I noticed the car, Ford Fiesta XR2i 1.6 H Reg, had lost a lot of power and was reluctent to drive. I got it home safely, back to London, but when I took the rocker cover off today I found the rocker arm, on the top left nearest the cam belt, No1 I think, had completely sheared off and cracked away from around the mounting and nut and was just lying sideways in the top of the head.
  • High Mileage Ford Mondeos 23 Jun 2004 (Forum)
I need two cars, an estate and a saloon. There is a garage near me which specialises in high mileage Fords. I could buy two Mondeos, an estate (2.0 Ghia) and a saloon (2.0 Zetec) for about £8k but both cars would have done anything between 90k to 115k. The garage reckons the cars drive as though they had only done 30k.
  • Ford Cd Changers 21 Apr 2004 (Forum)
I find the irony of this quite...well...ironic as I seem to remember posting on a thread about taking the front off cd players.... ahem - anyway. I put the original Ford one back in which is a 5000 rds cd changer compatible. I am sorely tempted to get a cd changer so I can hide it in the boot and so nothing is on show to a would be thief. However, I am aware that there is some sort of adapter that I would need.
