  • Very Successful Classic Auction Today 3 Dec 2001 (News)
    A 1964 Mini Cooper 1275S, which must have been one of the first 1275s, sold for a huge £7,600. A 1972 Morris Minor Royal Mail van, crashed on its first collection run, then rebuilt and stored ever since with just 70 miles on its clock sold for £7,700. An Austin-badged 1972 Minor pick-up with tilt also did well at £4,100. A very pleasing 1933 Austin 12/4 two seat tourer sold for £6,900.

  • 1930s Aston set to fetch £110,000 4 Oct 2017 (News)
    Previous owners Richard and Sandra Loveys used the car extensively over 35 years at Aston Martin events and also took part in the Norwich Union Classic Run on numerous occasions. In 2005, the car formed part of the St George's Day parade at Windsor in front of the Queen. In 2016 the car was repainted in dark blue and trimmed with burgundy leather.
  • Suzuki introduces scrappage scheme with £2000 savings 8 Sep 2017 (News)
    Suzuki has launched its own scrappage scheme with a £2000 offer on a range of new models. The scrappage programme runs until the 30 September 2017 and offers buyers up to £2000 off selected Suzuki models. Cars traded-in must be registered before the end of 2009. Any make of petrol, diesel or hybrid car can be traded in - although they must be pre-Euro 5 emissions standard.

    They include signed books, diaries, unseen concept car artwork, and scratch-built models. There are also trophies and meticulous notes from races, test drives, and record-breaking runs on the flats at Bonneville. And one of the more unusual items in the collection is a radio receiver built by Donald Healey, which was one of his key interests outside of racing and car design.
  • 600 classic Fords set for Midlands rally 15 Jun 2017 (News)
    .  A first for this year is the 1925 Ford Model T Railway Inspection Car which will be running on a short 30m section of track outside the Collections’ Centre. Held in conjunction with the Ford Y & C Register, vehicles on display will include commercials, tractors, and a range of vehicles built using a Ford engine up 1990. As you’d expect, there’ll be plenty of Model Ts on show as well as transport from the pre-war and austerity years.
  • British Motor Heritage to offer Mk1 Mini bodyshells 13 Feb 2017 (News)
    British Motor Heritage is to build replacement bodyshells for Mk1 Minis. The first production run of 15 bodies will start in April with deliveries expected in May. The launch price is £9950, including VAT, and buyer’s will need to put down a 25% deposit. The early body is different to its later counterparts.
  • Ferraris set for London spectacular 7 Sep 2016 (News)
    Returning to ExCeL, the show will be held on 23-26 February and will build on the record 33,000 visitors who visited the 2016 event. The Grand Avenue, a roadway running through the centre of the show, allows visitors to see and hear their favourite classics in action. For 2017, there will be an open paddock that allows visitors to get closer to the metal. Car Club Square will feature more clubs and more cars, while top classic dealers will be on hand with more cars for sale.
  • Belfast students build electric DeLorean 21 Oct 2015 (News)
    Belfast students have built a DeLorean that runs on electricity. The undergraduates at Queen’s University in Belfast modified the DMC-12 and unveiled it on ‘Back to the Future’ day, 21 October. The car is the first DMC-12 to be built in Northern Ireland since the factory closed its doors in 1983. Students and staff from Queen’s School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, supported by NIE Networks, painstakingly restored and modified the car over the past 18 months.
  • National Motor Museum founder Lord Montagu dies 31 Aug 2015 (News)
    A champion of the classic vehicle movement, he often took part in the London to Brighton veteran car run. Most recently, he played a part in the campaign to exempt historic vehicles from the MoT test. The legislation, which came into effect in 2012, means that cars built before 1960 don’t need to have an annual test.
  • Classic advert: Subaru 360 6 Jul 2015 (News)
    Bricklin knew that the 360 would be laughed at in some quarters, hence these four self-deprecating adverts admitting that the Subaru was small and ugly – but boasting that it was cheap to buy, cheap to run and brilliantly economical. Various young ladies were shown enjoying their 360s in the ads, and their verdict was always the same: 'The little Soo-bar-ru … wow!'
