My Clio is a 2017 plate and my wife told me one day that the boot was opened on its own, I thought that she hadn't closed it properly. Yesterday it happened to me, Noticed the door opened light and the boot was open.
I have been checking online and states that it could be moisture in the switch / Bare wires. ... Read more
Last year my car failed its MOT test on a ball joint, So i had to get the drivers side wishbone replaced which was a hassle because my car was off the road for a few days. So this time i booked a Free Suspension check at ATS and ATS stated that it needed a new near side spring and wishbone for its MOT, Yesterday i was getting my Aircon Re-charged at Protyre and i got them to check the suspension and they said that everything is OK... So i told them that ATS told me that i needed the near side Spring and Wishbone replaced for the MOT, The lady in the reception got the engineer and he told me that everything is in Good order for its MOT, So i will get the MOT done first without having the Spring and Wishbone replaced for the MOT but i will tell the garage to have parts on hand if it fails the MOT and it can be done on the same day since its in getting a full service after the MOT but who ever is wrong , I will be complaining to them. On another note, After the Air Con Re charge, I was told that it wasn't cool enough and if it remains that way, Then i have to take it back again within 3 weeks and then will make alterations to adjust the Air temp. But least its now working since it stopped working at the end of summer. Read more
Why didn't you just let Protyre MOT the car?
Surely they would have passed it!
Hi,
First time post.
I have a 2010 I20 Classic that's been fantastic for the past 8/9 months. Last night I noticed a strange noise coming from the engine area - it's quite high-pitched and sounds more electrical than mechanical, it's fairly intermittent as well as when I push gently down on the accelerator it either stops or starts and then seems to change pitch and then sometimes just disappear altogether.
The mobile mechanic who popped over today said they'd not heard the noise before, but thought it was coming from the spark plug leads and that changing them would probably help/solve issue. They said they thought the car would be fine to drive in the interim as the noise wasn't coming from the engine itself, but I wanted to ask here to see if anyone else has encountered this or could offer any advice, I don't want to risk any further damage as his diagnosis seemed as much guess as anything else.
I made some short clips here and here to demonstrate the issue (apologies for the wind noise - stormy weather today!)
Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions. Read more
If you haven’t already done it, I’d remove the auxiliary belt to make sure the noise isn’t from the alternator, and if it has one, the air con compressor.
Came upon this gem on YouTube last night. Just under 24 mins but well worth watching if you've time!... Read more
I love all episodes of top gear, with the original crew, stopped watching it after they went. I tried to watch the new lot but could only stand 5 mins of it, the entertainment value was r****** and in my opinion became, after they left, just another car show.
Found a Micra in remarkable condition for my Ukrainian colleague. Sadly over the weekend someone broke the original equipment sunroof glass with a stone. I have tried all the usual sources for a replacement without success. Does anyone have or know where I can find this part please? My colleague needs the car for work and has to keep it outside where it is exposed to the current rainy conditions. Thank you. Read more
<< Then remembered a small yard 5 miles away, rang them and they had one. £40 paid for a sunroof complete with frame, motor, blinds and most importantly, intact glass. >>
Well found ! If the glass is the only damaged item, with luck you may be able to swap only that. I wouldn't fancy meddling with all the other bits .... :-)
My car has a leak, i drove it today about 50 miles and noticed it has a leak- partner thinks its air con as it is water and i had the heating on but i dont know. When i stopped there was a good stream of water coming out from passenger front side, no warning lights wtc have come on. I have noticed when looking at engine that i have no coolant but i have never topped this up so hard to
Know if that has caused the leak or ive juat run out Read more
If it’s cold clear water , then it’s not coolant . Possibly Aircon condensate. After a 50 mile drive, if it’s coolant , it’ll be warm and either a pink or blue colour. Get the levels checked with engine cold
Hi,
I bought a 2nd hand Ford Focus, its a 63 reg 1.0 Ecoboost (yes, I know, I've lost track of the number of people who've told me that's a notoriously bad engine after I bought it). It's slightly over 100,000 miles and no the timing belt hadn't been replaced, but it has now.... Read more
Could a Ford dealer run a diagnostic on it? It's probably something mechanical, but it could be software.
Hello,
I am writing an article about the Ford Mustang and would be grateful if you could give me some help by answering any or all of these questions.... Read more
Thanks for the comments here. Some of them are really helpful and give a good insight. The first official imports to the UK were on 2015. However, the Ford Mustang Owners Club of Great Britain founded in 1979 with a couple of owners who had met up at Santa Pod with their Mustangs. Hence the question about the first imports, I'm guessing they came in to the UK in 1970s at some point but who brought them in?
If anyone can help with the answers, it will be appreciated. ...

OP's comments on Honda prices near them is baffling.
Not to me. the OP says 30K, they do not say £'s, it could be any currency....
A poster on another forum shares information on possible plans to have all cars fitted with 'telematics' to tell where, when and how you drive, make classics uninsurable.
If true, a worrying prospect. here's a link to his YouTube detailed story.... Read more
