Because I've only recently and unwillingly and accidentally been thrust in to the world of buying two new cars, I've only just noticed how they seem to be sold these days. It seems to me that everything is around the 'infotainment'.

Also, and don't get me wrong, I abhor mobile phone use at the wheel, but I can't see how these large interactive touch screens are any less distracting. We bought a Skoda Scala before Christmas, and as a car I absolutely love it, but this screen is so distracting and you have to 'see' the screen to access the basic controls whereby in an older car you could usually grope around for the buttons to change the radio etc whilst keeping your eyes on the road. I am starting to find the sheer weight of this tech overwhelming (and I am a software engineer by trade), and I'm longing for the basic dashboard and car of twenty years ago. Surely I can't be the only one? Read more

I must admit I like some 'modern' features, I find the reversing camera great, but have never used the self-parking feature, I simply don't trust it, yet I realise that is illogical.

I have an 'iPad' in the centre of the dashboard, but only use the arrows next to the speedo for sat nav directions....

<< Are you sure that it isn't just the "Child Proof Locks" that have been set.? >>

Surely any half-intelligent dealer might have thought of that ? But perhaps the electronics think they have been, or maybe a faulty lock ?...

Minor shock on the insurance premium for me. From under £300 to £550. However I did a search putting my wife as the main driver with no no-claims discount and saved £90 for almost the same policy. Took an hour or two messing about but it's worth a try. Bloke I know reckons used prices are dropping, is this happening? Read more

Link shows man complaining about premium of £1780 for a Velar. Considering it is an £80k car, that sounds cheap.

But insurance is about covering damage inflicted on third parties too, which is why it is still not cheap for almost worthless cars. I suppose the bigger the vehicle, the greater the damage it can cause ....

Hi, I'm guessing this has been asked a few times from what I hear about this engine. I would like to replace the engine as it is damaged almost beyond repair and I wondered if anyone had any dealings with companies that replace engines preferably in the south coast as I'm on the Isle of Wight. I am being quoted a hell of a lot of money here and im getting much much cheaper quotes online but wanted a tried and trusted company if anyone knows of one that might be able to help me. Read more

Regarding the Bath tipper tragedy there was someone missing from the dock, the training industry.

That young driver had been taught the modern way to drive trucks ie exactly the same as the new way of driving a car, apparently, 'brakes to slow gears to go'....

Hi. It's time now to update my 16 yo Citroen C1. I've fallen in love with both the cars above (subject box). However, which is the cheapest to run? Are the wheels on the Juke pricier than the wheels on the Aygo, for example, if I ever needed to replace them. To me, the Juke wheels look massive. I've never had a big car before and I need something with a bigger boot too. I like the look of the Aygo as it's seems very stylish. Thank you! Read more
