Minor shock on the insurance premium for me. From under £300 to £550. However I did a search putting my wife as the main driver with no no-claims discount and saved £90 for almost the same policy. Took an hour or two messing about but it's worth a try. Bloke I know reckons used prices are dropping, is this happening? Read more
Link shows man complaining about premium of £1780 for a Velar. Considering it is an £80k car, that sounds cheap.
But insurance is about covering damage inflicted on third parties too, which is why it is still not cheap for almost worthless cars. I suppose the bigger the vehicle, the greater the damage it can cause ....
Hello!
My first post on the forum was regarding my dead PowerShift Mondeo - dead because of the Powershift. Frustratingly my wife's car also came to the end of the lease, so we replaces that with a new Skoda Scala family hatch. Love it by the way!... Read more

Can’t see any reference to the car going to a main bmw dealer ?
Ah!
Your quite right, my mistake. An independent.
Hi. It's time now to update my 16 yo Citroen C1. I've fallen in love with both the cars above (subject box). However, which is the cheapest to run? Are the wheels on the Juke pricier than the wheels on the Aygo, for example, if I ever needed to replace them. To me, the Juke wheels look massive. I've never had a big car before and I need something with a bigger boot too. I like the look of the Aygo as it's seems very stylish. Thank you! Read more
Thank you, Engineer Andy.
With the recent news that radio station Classic fm will be dropping their DAB coverage for the newer DAB+ (though seemingly keeping FM for now), I was wondering how many newer (non-high end) cars actually come equipped with DAB+ at all or at least can be easily and cheaply adapted / upgraded to accept the new radio system?
In the past, people owning cars with only FM could, if I recall, buy an add-on receiver unit that would retransmit an FM signal so their car radio could pick up the DAB signals. Are such devices still available, and do they exist to do the same for DAB+ to either FM or DAB, or even directly via the car's USB port or Bluetooth to the in-car entrainment system, depending upon the car?... I didn't realise DAB+ was a thing, might that explain why Union Jack which i listened to most of the day via DAB in the truck suddenly vanished one day?
They went into administration last year....
Daughter was told that the DAB radio function (missing on some models in the past year or so) and a dab pliug in kit on the windscreen provided instead, had been fixed and new models should arrive fully equipped.
So went to order one with the proviso that would check the car before completing purchase and would then pay balance r if not wnated return of deposit. (this before registration)... Read more
MG’s website says DAB is standard on all grades of HS.
If she likes the car, why not use the inbuilt Apple CarPlay/Android Auto to stream radio stations?
Hey all, another addition to my interminable fiesta woes! My rear lights are out. The hazards and break lights work, but the regular rear ones just don't. As I write this I'm sat in a recovery truck on my way home (after waiting 6 hours ??) and I'm just wondering is it likely to be a fuse as the recovery guy says? He refused to look at the fuse box and just did a straight recovery without trying to fix it.

If this is the first of the current model fiesta , there may be a fuse in the engine bay box . Fuse #22 will be a 15 amp blue .
Spot on! Went to Halfords. Bought two fuses, dropped one in a puddle, then when I pulled my fuse out one of the prongs snapped off and stuck in the slot. I very cleverly dug it out with a pair of metal tweezers but still couldn't get the new fuse in. Halfords wouldn't look at it. Went to another local garage who fixed it without charge! So relieved that it's back on the road so I can keep driving it until something else goes wrong (probably by next Thursday if current trends are an indication)
It's a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 25i combi, which we had installed about 5 years ago I think. Every now and again, perhaps 5 to 10 times a day, it makes a sort of motor running noise for about 10 seconds, fairly consistent, steady pitch, more of a grinding noise than a whirring. There's a definite start and stop; it sounds quite controlled.
Can't match it up with any of these:... Read more
I had an IDEAl fitted during lockdown (there wasn't anything else available). It's supposed to have a ten year warranty, subject to servicing conditions, I guess like modern car main dealer stipulations. OK so far, but I'm getting servicing through IDEAL.

What was the problem with your approved used car?, and was it a Mini?...
