Daughter was told that the DAB radio function (missing on some models in the past year or so) and a dab pliug in kit on the windscreen provided instead, had been fixed and new models should arrive fully equipped.

So went to order one with the proviso that would check the car before completing purchase and would then pay balance r if not wnated return of deposit. (this before registration)... Read more

MG’s website says DAB is standard on all grades of HS.
If she likes the car, why not use the inbuilt Apple CarPlay/Android Auto to stream radio stations?

Hey all, another addition to my interminable fiesta woes! My rear lights are out. The hazards and break lights work, but the regular rear ones just don't. As I write this I'm sat in a recovery truck on my way home (after waiting 6 hours ??) and I'm just wondering is it likely to be a fuse as the recovery guy says? He refused to look at the fuse box and just did a straight recovery without trying to fix it.

If this is the first of the current model fiesta , there may be a fuse in the engine bay box . Fuse #22 will be a 15 amp blue .

Spot on! Went to Halfords. Bought two fuses, dropped one in a puddle, then when I pulled my fuse out one of the prongs snapped off and stuck in the slot. I very cleverly dug it out with a pair of metal tweezers but still couldn't get the new fuse in. Halfords wouldn't look at it. Went to another local garage who fixed it without charge! So relieved that it's back on the road so I can keep driving it until something else goes wrong (probably by next Thursday if current trends are an indication)

Noticed how well received the latest Suzuki Swift has been among a few of us here, not exactly enthralled by its looks, someone mentioned the Renault Laguna and how facelifts can sometimes be to a model's detriment.

Taken to extremes these facelifts can lead to the ending of what where up to then well loved long lived cars, the one that springs immediately to mind is Granada morphing into Scorpio, looks only a mother could love.... Read more

I had an original Octavia in the early 70's, before I was old enough to drive. A friend of my Mums gave it to me to play with and learn about car mechanics. Seemed great at the time but not a design classic :-)

It's a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 25i combi, which we had installed about 5 years ago I think. Every now and again, perhaps 5 to 10 times a day, it makes a sort of motor running noise for about 10 seconds, fairly consistent, steady pitch, more of a grinding noise than a whirring. There's a definite start and stop; it sounds quite controlled.

Can't match it up with any of these:... Read more

I had an IDEAl fitted during lockdown (there wasn't anything else available). It's supposed to have a ten year warranty, subject to servicing conditions, I guess like modern car main dealer stipulations. OK so far, but I'm getting servicing through IDEAL.

There seems to be a bit of a Suzuki fan club on here, so here’s the new Swift. Unveiled today.

Chichely hill? I know it well and usually give mine a work-out there....

How can I handle a speeding ticket I received as a young driver for going 76mph in a 55mph zone, which was later reduced to 65mph on the citation? I made a mistake, fueled by a tiring day at work and being frustrated by a car preventing me from passing. I complied and pulled over immediately when I saw the flashing lights, and I remained respectful and cooperative with the officer. As a relatively inexperienced driver, I am seeking guidance on how to navigate this situation and any steps I can take to minimize the impact on my driving record and insurance rates. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Read more

It certainly does help, much obliged for that comprehensive reply Middleman.

Just read that the county has come to an utter halt due to the snow, made worse by people ignoring advice not to travel, driving on the wrong side of the road to avoid drifts/ abandoned vehicles before getting stuck themselves.

Just the weather for heated seats. If you have them do you use them or does the novelty wear off? Read more

I first had heated seats in a Peugeot 406 3.0 v6, back in 1997. I've had them in every car since.

The latest car has a remote control app. I can set it to heat the car, and demist front and rear screens 10 minutes before I want to leave. I wish I'd had it when I was working - I'd often have 5am starts,

I am becoming mildly concerned about the growing use of 'flush' door handles that only pop out when the car is unlocked.

‘ The simple, but still annoying, problem will be the damn things freezing and not popping out when required.’ Megane E-Tech has a ‘hammer’ function if it senses it’s frozen. It’ll vibrate itself out from the flush position. In the event of an accident, the handles pop out. I’d assume everything else does the same.

Great when it's new, but a few years down the line...
