Morning All.

Have a 10 year old corsa with about 130k miles on the clock. Did a 400 mile journey yesterday and pulled over for a break. When engine restarted power steering wasnt working and can't get above 2000rpm. Coolant was spilling from the middle of the car and none showing in coolant reservoir. Ended up getting towed home. I have readded some coolant but clearly an issue. Power steering seems to be working but still cannot get above 2000 rpm. Unsure if its safe to drive to a garage or if i need to get towed there. When ticking over sounds different to the norm. Read more

Managed to get a local to come have a look. Pressure tested coolant and found no issue. Suspects could be unrelated to the power issue. He has taken it away so will await the news (cost!). Thanks All

I have a 2019 SEAT Ibiza 1.0 TSI. It’s coming up for 60,000 miles (44 months old) and just about due a major service.

Up until now it’s been dealer serviced. I’m thinking of keeping it another couple of years (30,000 miles) until trading it in.... Read more

However despite all of that, sometimes the main dealers have offers on servicing so it’s worth finding out. My local Ford dealer were doing a minor service on any car upto 2.0l for £120 during June.
My mate took his Fiesta along and as part of the service he got them to update the cars software which is handy,

So £120 for 4 litres of oil and 2 filters! ...

My car has been written off by another driver and I'm out searching for a new one. I've got a van so no big rush at the moment but I'm struggling to find decent options for under £9k which is probably as far as I want to go.... Read more

Age and mileage of car, service record and how long have you owned it?

None of which appears to matter at all, except maybe the last one, a bit, in that it might give a clue as to whether the previous owner was offloading a problem....

Hi all

I am looking for recommendations for a suitable replacement for my 2010 Astra. I know that the Dacia Sandero can be had for under 14k new, or just under 10k for a 1 or 2 year old model. I know 3 year old Astras are 13k ish. The only medium size cars i have seen cheaper are either a Suzuki Baleno or Fiat Tipo.

If only prices would come down, maybe they will in the coming months Read more

Luck is a big factor along with good preventative maintenance, but I’d still rather have the security of a well proven design that has a good solid reputation for longevity.

Back in the day, everyone used to talk about 'Friday cars' but I suppose those are obsolete since everything is built by robots ?

I expect the majority of car production is done 24/7 nowadays so there won't be such as a thing as a Friday car now.

Why do I get the impression that some here aren't worried about such things as they either believe they won't fall into that affected group or that they won't be in a position to care anyway as the won't be driving any more, for one reason or another......

Sad to see the new Toyota Prius is not coming to the UK. It looks superb. I know there are good reasons why it is not coming over here but it is a shame they have dangled this stunning looking car in front of us only to make it ultimately out of reach. Read more

Ireland, despite being so close to the UK, has different car tastes. They’re big into Toyota - it would not be far off to say that every other car on the road there is a Toyota.

They also prefer saloons as opposed to hatchbacks. Cars are dearer in Ireland and many Irish buy from the UK.
