This is a hi pressure injection system , so possibly a faulty injector or a clogged up air inlet tract . You’ll probably need to remove inlet manifold for inspection.

Fitted new calipers and handbrake efficency was raised as an issue but passed, this year they failed

Spoke with the mechanic and he suggested they where either adjusted incorrectly or faulty... Read more

Madf's suggestion sounds reasonable.

I've never been a fan of these self adjusting calipers incorporating the park brake mechanism, thinking back over the years with various makes they can be prone to issues with the self adjusting mechanism and pistons sticking, difficult to lube too without fully dismantling....

Never heard the words Ferrari and bargain in the same sentence! :-)

Looks like a lottery win is in order....

Why would anyone want to do that when they contain lots of valuable contents? They’re much too high value not to make use of again.

I'm nearly 60 and thought I had knowledge of, if not actually seen, most classic cars on the road in my time, but I saw one this morning that I wasn't previously aware of: a Vignale Samantha, based on the Fiat 125 platform. Very pretty car.

Anyone else seen a car recently that made you do a double-take? Read more

Don't think I ever heard if that one, but few months back I saw a Borgward Isabella coupe on the A48 just north of Newnham Glos, fine looking motor.

MIL's garage door has broken, it is the old type with a sprung bar along the top on the inside, with two spindles either end with wire cables running to pins on the actual door (cable has broken on one side).

Found a kit on t'internet and ordered it, but I'm wondering if the copper grease I have in the shed would be suitable to re-lubricate everything?. If not, what kind would be best?... Read more

I just used LM grease on the vertical runners and every couple of years give them a spray of WD40, the same as the spring.

Morning All.

Have a 10 year old corsa with about 130k miles on the clock. Did a 400 mile journey yesterday and pulled over for a break. When engine restarted power steering wasnt working and can't get above 2000rpm. Coolant was spilling from the middle of the car and none showing in coolant reservoir. Ended up getting towed home. I have readded some coolant but clearly an issue. Power steering seems to be working but still cannot get above 2000 rpm. Unsure if its safe to drive to a garage or if i need to get towed there. When ticking over sounds different to the norm. Read more

Managed to get a local to come have a look. Pressure tested coolant and found no issue. Suspects could be unrelated to the power issue. He has taken it away so will await the news (cost!). Thanks All

Hello all,

Just wondered if anyone else has had this? Recently (2 weeks ago)bought the above car. On 2 occasions after it was sitting for a few days, on the drive home (after 30 mins or so) I get amber warning lights and messages in the fault application of DSC malfunction and SCBS malfunction. Also noticed the indicator on the dash board which displays which gear your in disappears too. After switching the engine off and restarting, they all disappear and it's all back to normal.
Dealer reckons it's to do with a sensor steaming up and is fairly common. I'm inclined to agree, but still a bit annoying and wondered if anyone else has experienced the same and if there is a fix?... Read more

Yes I have.
Actually the tyre pressure warning system did trigger on my way home from the dealer. The new tyre they had fitted was a lot more pressure than the other three. So equalised them all at 33 or so and has been fine since.
Thanks

I have a 2019 SEAT Ibiza 1.0 TSI. It’s coming up for 60,000 miles (44 months old) and just about due a major service.

Up until now it’s been dealer serviced. I’m thinking of keeping it another couple of years (30,000 miles) until trading it in.... Read more

However despite all of that, sometimes the main dealers have offers on servicing so it’s worth finding out. My local Ford dealer were doing a minor service on any car upto 2.0l for £120 during June.
My mate took his Fiesta along and as part of the service he got them to update the cars software which is handy,

So £120 for 4 litres of oil and 2 filters! ...
