Or any other car that you can get today.
I’ve been searching for at least 3 months for a used Ford Focus Estate.
20 months ago I purchased a Ford Focus estate for £5000 2017. Now I’m looking for the same again but the price has gone so high that it isn’t worth purchasing one that has been used.

Why you ask? The exact same car 2017 now would cost £10000+. I’m finding it hard to believe that the same car is seriously more than what it was then. Talking to certain people in the industry it turns out that the cars are now priced by the App industry. Carwow etc. These companies have pushed the prices beyond the logical sustainment with servicing costs. What that means is that with servicing costs your car is costing you more than what a brand new car is.

But… I can’t afford a new car…. Then you will end up paying more than if you purchased new.

Ouch… Yes!

And don’t be a bigger loser buying a 2 year old. Most new compact’s are only £2000 more. Do some searching for your hard earned. Read more

What is wrong with the car you bought 20 months ago?

I know, it's worth too much now compared to what he paid for it : )

This just reminded me of the chap on the stand next to me at COP 26 in Glasgow a couple of years ago.
His concept was that of electric, cargo carrying submarines. Each could carry one standard shipping container, would be unmanned and would travel in fleets between ports. I think the idea was you’d miss the worst of the weather. He envisioned these subs supplying the islands of the Caribbean, or similar archipelago.
They’d also have external filters for capturing micro plastics en route, but he didn’t explain how they captured the plastics and not small marine life.
I’ve not seen anything of it since.

..... but as with full EV’s or any car for that matter 12v battery failure can stop proceedings for a very short spell and cost you a mighty £80-£150 or so to cure. Hardly a disaster, as long as you don’t try to jump start them, this can cause problems........ Read more

You are right I have jumped loads of cars, but made the mistake once on the job ( recovery ) of connecting the leads up the worng way and breaking the alternator, it is the operator at fault not the action of jump starting a car.

I always get the battery checked if it was not because I left summit on in the car.

Hello,

It'll 10 years this January since I've been driving my Ford Fiesta 1.25 MK7. I'm saving up money now, hoping to find a suitable replacement that would last me for another period of 10 years. My max budget is maximum £10k (taking into account Fiesta P/X), and I would look to drive around 7k miles/annum.... Read more

If I was the bloke in that video (what a berk, IMHO) I'd be far more concerned at the sea water coming over the sea wall in significant amounts, enough to move that BMW and take out his lower half pinned to the other wall directly behind him.

While YT is often very good it’s worth looking yourself under the bonnet as to what’s really involved. It’s a couple of years since I did one in our previous Corsa so I can’t remember the details.but the video suggested it was a lot of work. It wasn’t and took only a few minutes by doing it logically rather than following all the video steps.

Ours was a base model so it’s possible there was less gubbins to get in the way but it’s worth assessing it yourself.

Hi all.

Just been invited to go to a 'special' event at toyota dealer where they are offering new cars at cost price, whatever that really means, plus £100, sounds like a bargain, or is this just another marketing exercise with lots of time wasting waffle?... Read more

Yes a flat battery would be a concern as I only do about 3k miles a year. I'd be looking at a corolla or CHR but I the corolla is getting old now and is very tight in the back. Have seen 6k off a Chr elsewhere but is about to be replaced with a new model.
