Does anyone know how to remove the white plastic housing which contains two controllers and a fuse box on the passenger side under the scuttle and next to the suspension mount? I have one with a burst brake pipe underneath this housing and need to remove it so I can access the pipe to replace it. There is also an air pump at the bottom of the housing which connects to a duct under the dash on the passenger side inside the car.
Many thanks in advance if anyone knows or has ever done this. Read more
My recently bought Mk2 Jazz does not come with spare wheel (it was an option). I’d like to put a spare steely from an old car. It’s slightly different size. Jazz = 175/65/15. Spare wheel is 175/65/14. Will this cause any issues? Other than aesthetics. It’ll only be short term until the punctured tyre can be repaired/replaced? Read more
So essentially, if I look for any wheel where the tyre says 175/65/15 that’ll do?
No, No, No! As has been stated above, you need the correct PCD and take into consideration the wheel diameter, width and offset.
I am looking to change my car but cant decide what is best to go for.

if you can find one for sale & are OK with it being at least 5 years old then you might also consider a Toyota Avensis 1.8 M-drive S - this is a petrol CVT but was HonestJohn's favourite version of the Avensis. Achieves almost manual mpg (~40 average depending upon your journey profiles) & the CVT is very reliable. Can be kept in Toyota warranty up until 10 years/100,000 miles with a Toyota dealer service.
Your daily work drives of 2 miles aren't going to see a diesel achieve normal operating temp....
Sorry to bring this topic up again but I have a prepay account with my daughter's and my cars on it. She used the crossing yesterday but nothing has been taken from my account yet and nothing is showing against her registration number either. Does the system still have a delay before payment is shown? Thanks for any info. Read more
I'd call just to check what has happened - before anything nasty lands on the doorstep. It's a new system in place so probably a few teething problems.
Hi,
I’m looking for a medium sized hatchback/suv car with a budget of 15k. I have previously owned Honda Civics. I would like something that is 69 plate or newer. Annual mileage will be around 9k per year. Petrol or diesel. Hondas are just out of my price range now, unfortunately. Also something with a nippy engine.
I used to like sporty looking cars, but with the prices of cars going up, I’m open to any reliable car that will last for 4 years. Read more
I’ll give a vote for the Suzuki, good suggestion
Hello everyone. I am wondering if anyone can provide any sound advice for the situation I find myself in and which is causing me no end of stress! I bought a second hand vehicle (2017 plate) from a dealer and took out their offer of a two year extended warranty for peace of mind. I took finance of £5k and paid the balance of £15k myself. A few months after ownership it became apparent that there was an issue with the coolant mysteriously ‘disappearing’. I first noticed it 4 months after taking ownership, didn’t report it to the garage I purchased from but had the system re-pressurised/filled and all seemed well for a while. Then it happened again 7 months in and I then knew it was a recurring problem that garage needed to address under the warranty. I had to get recovered back to my house and the vehicle couldn’t be driven as there was no sign of coolant in the bottle. I contacted them and asked them to investigate and fix under the warranty. They said the earliest they could look at it was 6 weeks (!!) so I had to just wait that time. After further weeks of chasing, they said it would need to go to a separate Ford specialist garage for further test as they were scratching their heads. This entailed a further wait of weeks to get a ‘slot’ with Ford. Anyway to cut a long story short, since breakdown I’ve now been waiting 4 long months and the problem hasn’t been identified let alone fixed. I have hit a brick wall , they won’t return my calls or emails and they are 2.5 hours away from me so not easy for me to visit. I am virtually calling every other day and getting ignored. It’s really getting me down. I have my own business and need the vehicle for work and on top of that they say they have no courtesy vehicles they can give me full stop. What do I do? They are just taking a lend of me and I feel powerless. How can they get away with this ‘service’ week after week after week? Is there a code of conduct ‘reasonable period of time’ in which a vehicle must be fixed. How can I shake them into action? I need my vehicle back yesterday. Can anyone help, please! Thank you. Just to clarify, refund on the extended warranty.
When I bought my Piaggio Porter I was pleased to see it had a cigarette lighter which I could use to charge phone, power a dash cam, etc. Took the adapter I had in the Caddy, tried to plug it in, but it wouldn't.
Turns out the new ones (12v socket) has a small hole in the middle, but the lighter socket in the Piaggio doesn't. ... Read more

If anyone else is interested, Legend channel is showing The Six Million Dollar Man from the start, starting today!. It is on daily at 7pm and repeated at 9am the following day.
While I am certainly of the age to have watched it when it came out, I don't have much memories of it. Though I do remember getting an action figure and "rocket" for Christmas a very long time ago (probably worth a fortune now!). ... Read more

Hi there,
I've been experiencing a pretty annoying screeching noise coming from the front left tire of my car. It's a bit strange – the noise appears when I start moving the car from idle, and then it comes and goes while I'm driving. Oddly enough, sometimes it just disappears altogether. The noise seems to be most noticeable when I'm reversing.
I took my car to a mechanic, and they took it for a spin. They mentioned it could potentially be related to the brake pads, but upon inspection, the pads seem to be in decent condition. The thing is, the mechanic didn't actually hear the noise themselves. Lucky for me, I managed to capture the sound in a recording, which you can listen to here:

I read that airtags alert the thief to thier presence after several hours, so limited utility.
That Vodafone one is interesting, but I suspect car thieves have kit to detect GPS and cellular devices. Crime seems very organised these days....

Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated.
