I've just recently bought a Vauxhall Astra 2018 petrol estate, and I want to get a reversing camera added. I'd like for it to connect straight into the dashboard screen. Is that possible? Is that even wise? Where's the best place to get one added? Any direction and help would be appreciated. Read more
For a "factory fit" type option you could try a company called IntellilinkMods. They get good reviews on the Astra K forum. £189 fitted but you need to travel to the North East, although it can be DIY'd by post.
Engines gone and done this now......maneged to get it home.

Could be injector sealing washers blown . Is there any “chuffing “ up past the injectors?
Barking mad list price is even uglier and will see it absolutely fail in the UK and quickly withdrawn, despite there being demand for such cars here as shown by the number of similar (if less luxurious) Japanese imports.
The leasing rates on these will be hilarious as expected depreciation will be horrendous.
Hello, Just hoping someone could advise me if I have case against the HPI company.
In December 2021, I bought a used car from a dealer for £30,000 and before purchasing the vehicle I paid to have a HPI check to make sure everything was clear on the vehicle. It came back clear and made refrence to not being a write off.... Read more
I cannot think that they will both pay up and you do not know if the same HPI company was used or how thorough the checks. The best you may hope for is the company takes the car back and compensates you in some way although they will claim you have had use of the car. Or you could elect to keep the car and the dealer refunds you an agreed price price difference usually 20-25% of the retail price when you bought it. He may still claim money back for your use of the car. The car company would have the come back on its HPI co. i would guess
Interesting to note that my insurer, Vitality, has written to me stating that they are withdrawing from offering car insurance due to 'unprecedented claims inflation'.
Now I have to mess around finding a new company. Obviously, I'm expecting a higher premium this time. Read more
LV or Direct Line both good for us. Cheaper to move mine to DL, losing the multicar discount, than to stay with LV - something like £150 less for the year.
Hi,
Hoping for some advice on a recent car accident on the motorway.... Read more
I think that Scott v Warren was about whether there was a case for careless driving against the driver behind rather than insurance liability.
Yes, Scott v Warren really only sets a precedent that you can't be charged with a criminal offence by applying a more stringent measure than for a civil case. So, if you rear-end someone and are found not to be at fault, you can't then be prosecuted for careless driving.
Electric car tyres are 40 per cent more likely to fail MOT than petrol vehicles (msn.com)... Read more
Oh yes they exist in my family. One of my brothers wouldn't know what a screwdriver was for. It took ages for me to convince him the MOT was not a service and that was something additional.
I bought my Focus two years ago when it was two years old. I've gone off it, and want a change. According to a certain car buyer that give you a valuation, It's worth £10k.
I paid nearly £17,000 for it. I've done average miles in two years. So, give or take, it's cost me nearly £7k to have a car two years.
I can (I think) lease one for that money and it'll be brand new.
Would it make sense to lease?
I realise that I bought at a bad time, prices were high. . but I can buy a second hand Golf for £17k and lose up to £3,500 a year, or spend £3,500 a year on a new Gold (or Mazda etc).
Am I missing something? What are your thought please? Read more
Thank you everybody. I've realised that just because I've 'lost' quite a bit in depreciation, it doesn't mean I have to spend that much every year.
I'm lowering my sights (see other thread!)...

I was thinking of the old Suzuki Ignis. They seemed to be exclusively driven by pensioners. Not necessarily a good thing, but this one has barely moved (presumably to the MOT station) for years.

While YT is often very good it’s worth looking yourself under the bonnet as to what’s really involved. It’s a couple of years since I did one in our previous Corsa so I can’t remember the details.but the video suggested it was a lot of work. It wasn’t and took only a few minutes by doing it logically rather than following all the video steps.
Ours was a base model so it’s possible there was less gubbins to get in the way but it’s worth assessing it yourself.
