Why on earth did a mere 7yr old Golf with such a tiny mileage need 'a brand new timing kit'??

I made enquires at VAG to find out what the timing belt interval was. ....This is a copy of the e-mail I received back...

The great rip-off continues - this time it's a small family hatch from a French mainstream, not prestige, manufacturer that starts at £24,000 without even hybrid tech.

Buy one outright or on finance at your peril - depreciation will be humungous and you'll pay for it in a finance deal as well as that will be part of the interest / final 'guaranteed value' charge calculation.

All this ridiculous car price inflation, hidden behind monthly finance payments, is not going to help anyone, and that includes the manufacturers who will be going to the wall when the Chinese start shipping cheaper EVs over here in greater numbers than they are already. Read more

The pandemic has, at least temporarily put a dampner on travel by bus and rail. Whether it'll return after (hopefully) the pandemic (restrictions) end is another matter. Other than the fear, I think many people have though long and hard about their priorities and work/life balance and this may change things considerably, which will have a big impact on taxation as well as how we do things as regards the workplace and travel....

Anyone can do it.

But only a dealer is going to get paid by the manufacturer. Unless you can do a deal with the manufacturer's customer services to pay someone else (and that someone else is happy to do it at the rates offered).
