Hi,

There has been this weird noise from my car which started about 3 months ago. I don’t know how to describe itAppears at anywhere below 3000 ish rpm when accelerating with about 50% throttle input. It’s fairly audible at lower speeds, if the surroundings are reasonably quiet as well, but not so much at higher speeds (above 50 mph). I have posted the link for a youtube video. I have taken the car to the dealer 3 times now and every time, they were said they couldn’t hear it. I have changed fuel from E10 unleaded to E5 Super unleaded as well, but no difference. Any help on this, as to what it could be, would be helpful. Best to watch the video with headphones. Time stamps in description. https://youtu.be/-vX6F34t368

Hi,

Thanks for letting me know! That really doesn’t sound good. And the car is only about 6 months old. I will be part exchanging this car for a Tiguan 2.0 TDI I have on order (likely 7 months wait) but just wanted to sort this just in case....

I’ve been running a new Suzuki S-Cross for just over a week now, as part of the launch activity, and it’s impressing me.
Aesthetically, it’s a big step forward from the previous versions, with a more contemporary nose and tail treatment and internally the traditional Suzuki quality fit and finish has been supplemented with some soft touch materials within reach of the passenger on the dashboard.
There’s only one engine, and it’s the 1.4 Boosterjet with the addition of a 48V mild hybrid. Very torquey, you can get through the gears early and rely on a combination of a turbo and electrics to pull effectively at low speeds in high gears. Performance is good when needed, and I’m getting 45-46mpg from a now 900 mile old motor.
Two trim levels - Motion and Ultra, the lower one being FWD and the upper having Suzuki’s Allgrip AWD system.
Good sized touch screens, 7 inch and 9 inch, but physical climate control buttons are retained, as is a manual handbrake.
Well worth investigating if you’re looking for a C segment SUV. Read more

Hi all,

Last year I purchased a 2017 Polo 1.2 TSI, with 27,000 miles on the clock, in great condition. I didn’t buy from VW, but it did come with 4 VW services under its belt.... Read more

£433 is a lot. Brake fluid changes are cheap. Look carefully at what you get for your money. Oil and filter change then check this, check that. I just get my indie to change the oil and filter and look at all the safety aspects before the mot and put them right, usually a tyre or new pads, main dealer servicing is a rip off.

Sorry, been away for a few days but thanks for all the helpful advice. When the car does finally roll off the slow boat from China I think I can amalgamate a reasonable plan from all the previous posts. Cheers!

Interesting problem. I know nothing much about diesels, but enough to doubt it's a starter motor problem. Apparently not starting when hot is a common problem. I found this link which might be helpful....

I’m looking for a family car, preferably a small/mid suv, that’s easy to park/manoeuvre in and out of tight spaces. I’d also like it to have front and rear sensors and a reversing camera. Can anyone recommend any? Read more

If EVs drive the front axle, they have the same mechanical restraints on turning circle as a FWD/AWD IC car - limited by the CVJ articulation.

But that clearly isn't the only limitation, if it was all front wheel drive cars would be able to apply the same angle of lock (as dictated by how much articulation the CVJ's can handle). That isn't the case though. ...

With the ban on new ice cars coming in 2030 I would love a crystal ball to see what happens to their used values over the next few years. Maybe buying a decent one near the time will be a good investment or it could be a money loser. Read more

This is going to be issue for us next year...we run a diesel Vauxhall Combo Life via Motability...now the Combo Life/Rifter and Berlingo are all EV only the range on them won't be suitable...and expect the range may be less than 140 miles by the time the car is loaded up with the electric wheel chair and mobility scooter it's used for...a real shame as otherwise the car is great...hopfully VW or Ford will have the similar cars still available and not as silly prices.

The Stellantis announcement also stated that IC versions would still be available for disabled conversions....

Several rattle around in my local town as well, they seem popular with taxi companies and the Renault 1.5 diesel is tough. I don't think this model is available anymore.
