The new bZ4X has been launched after Toyota previously refused to join the bandwagon. They saw the future with hydrogen cars replacing their hybrid range .

But even though hydrogen works and is greener, there has been little appetite to roll out the hydrogen filling stations.... Read more

I guess at a very basic level, the main difference between a hydrogen and electric vehicle will be how the electricity is delivered to the motors. Take out the hydrogen tank and fuel cell and replace them with batteries. Job done.

There was talk of a company using the rear wall of the HGV cab to store batteries for the long haul motors in case the Hydrogen was not available on its journey, so it can carry on without stopping, would certainly save man hours if it was Autonomous as well

Is it adopted highway and footpath? If so have the Council signed off the original job as being satisfactory?

If yes and it wasn't satisfactory complain to them that they signed off unsatisfactory work. If they didn't sign it off they should have the funds to put the job right from the bond paid by the developer....

General question, for anyone who drives and has made an insurance claim for an incident not your fault. Would that shoot up my premium on renewal?

I drive forward into a parking spot in a narrow road and was indicating to park. I wasn't as close to the curb as could be and left my indicator on and a car facing me forced its way forward hitting my wing mirror and drove off before giving me a chance to reverse closer parrelel to the curb. ... I'm a disabled EV user , So far I'm seeing more pros than cons to EV ownership, Cost being the main incentive at the minute
My main concern, and I've already approached my MP regarding this is with this weeks chatter on social tariffs for vulnerable customers. I get a very good deal with Octopus with cheap overnight electric. I don't want to see me having to choose between tariffs and now worry whether I'm not going to be just Heat or Eat but finding myself having to choose between losing my independence too!!

My major gripe with public charging points is being a person with differing mobility capabilities is that the charging points always seem to be at further most point away from the place you want to go, oh and ICE drivers abusing the ev points and using them as parking dpaces

This looks good news - somehow I missed the announcement a few days ago.

concrete

Hello Chaps, don't fall off your chairs... this is Concrete. Moved back North last year and things been hectic ever since, and I mean hectic. Now the dust is settled I am back. Just in time too. Today a friend got a letter from some legal outfit representing Northwest Parking. I was with her at the time and am mystified too by this claim. We parked in Hartlepool Marina on 3/3/21 over 10 months ago. We are aware of various parking problems and would have taken care to comply with any posted regulations. We had a coffee and left. Nothing since then. No ticket on the car, no letters asking for money, nothing until now. I was wondering if there is a time limit on claiming money for breaking parking regulations. Also the time lapse is surely grounds for appeal in the event we did transgress the regulations.

I have an Electrician arriving today so can't leave home. Tomorrow I shall visit the Marina and check out the parking and signage etc. Maybe camera monitored or patrolled. In the meantime any useful comments are welcome.... Read more

They might just be busy with a backlog. I follow a FB called called "Angry People in local newspapers" and Hartlepool Marina parking has been on quite a few times recently.

Just google news for "hartlepool marina parking"

Hi all, hope this is in the right place..

Does anyone know if there is anyway you can delay the renewal of your driving licence. ? ... Read more

okay, so looks like 2yrs , i will have to think about it, its £14 to renew so i guess i would only be saving (c)£2.80 by delaying for max 2yrs, so likely will just renew as not worth it.

It's a no-brainer. For the saving of less than a pint, it's much better to have a continuous licence.

gavsmit

It strikes me that, along with the people that thought of 'smart' motorways, that there are some very naive people with far too much faith in human nature, or some kind of political agenda, making this stuff up.

Whether you regard these rule changes as right or wrong, if you're going to walk or cycle in front of a car or other road vehicle and expect it to give way with only your faith in that driver's knowledge of the changes, their competence as a good driver, the road worthiness of their vehicle and your total confidence that they have actually seen you in the road, then good luck.

Someone needs to be questioning the motives and competence of the people making these rules, because it sure doesn't seem like real-world safety or common sense to me. Read more

Well well Reno ,yet more anti cyclist comments. Yes , no doubt you can find cyclists that act like that but can you honestly say that a list of drivers acting in an aggressive and rule breaking manner could also be made.
You also made the point about cyclists not paying road tax; I drive a car as well as ride a bike and I have never paid road tax but then neither do you, it was abolished when Winston Churchill was Prime Minister. What we do have to pay is Vehicle Excise Duty and this goes into Government funds, there is no tax which directly pays for road upkeep.
When I do cycle I find that the roads worst surfaces are in the first metre from the kerb so that's why I and other cyclists want to avoid those.
I don't know anyone who is a regular cyclist that isn't a member of one or other cycling organisations i.e. Cycling UK and membership fees include third party insurance.
As for lycra clothing, it's just more comfortable if you are riding over 2 or 3 miles.
Having said all this, the more I read about the new rules I can see some confusion and the need for a rewrite, they have also been badly publicised and I have heard people on TV saying things about them which are just not true- I heard someone say that a motorist who is on a roundabout most now give way to a cyclist that wishes to join the roundabout FALSE. The rules say that if a cyclist is already going on the roundabout THEN the motorist is supposed to give way.
Keep Safe.
