What a bunch of total m****s. To improve compliance - do they really think people are happy to accept £130 fines but £160 will make them stop. Read more

Very little to do with traffic regulation, , everything to do with raising revenue.

They're all up to it - just look at what prices have lept by in recent times for all makes, with mild refreshes being used as an excuse to hike prices by thousands.

Finance has helped hide huge price hikes behind monthly payments, and also helped make the price of EVs look 'more competitive' without actually coming down like everyone was led to believe would happen over time.

My interest in new cars is at an all time low - I've totally lost all respect for car makers and will not pay their ridiculous prices - I'd rather drive my current car until it cannot be repaired any more - and then I'll buy a bicycle.

I knew the Mondeo was out of time but didn’t realise the Galaxy is going as well.

Real shame. Had a few of these, (3 original shape and 2 of the post 2006 models) my current one has over 200k and is still going strong. Was only saying to Mrs T today that I’m not sure what we will replace the current one with, when it does eventually give up the ghost. Given they’re now only available as a 2.5 petrol hybrid, I doubt that would achieve the economy we get now.

Not surprised it’s going though, this iteration has been around since 2006 with only very minor tweaks.

Just shows that with a bit of TLC along with common sense and a smidge of luck, most cars these days can keep going perfectly well for a long time.

Tesla has a very complex cooling system for the battery with plenty of bespoke components.

Unlike the Leaf mk1, which had no battery cooling system, making it very unrelaible in hot countries (apparently they have had loads of issues is Oz according to John Cadogan).

I hope they survive and thrive, I am quite fond of the brand for having stuck to proper body on frame construction for its flagship model. I just wish they would change the name, as shallow as that is.

Sounds like we have a similar approach mcint***, I make sure all my cars are kept serviced and maintained properly (just don’t wash them very much !) I suppose my car is a bit like my old dog, a bit tatty, but still functioning and cleans up ok, and I’m fond of him. ;-)

I do the same with my Auris, although at 54000 miles it's barely run-in compared to yours. Not sure I can keep it going to your mileage, which I estimate I will reach circa 2038 :-). ...
