I have noticed that some Land Rover/ Range Rover vehicles now have a permanently illuminated amber light above the head light. Presumably there is a reason for this that is way beyond my level of comprehension. Could anyone explain the reason for this "innovation"?
Sitting at a round about during day light there was a land Rover visible on my right hand side, I could not see the front or drivers side of this car so it would be very easy to mistake this for an indication of the drivers intent to turn left , as it was they drove straight over. I could see the light was not flashing so did not assume it was indicating but I wonder if these lights are also the indicators? Read more
I have a 2007 1.4 16v zetec, everytime I fill her up until she cuts off at the pump and drive her home she says completely full. The next day she is half a gallon gone already. What is it doing that? I can't tell how many mpg if I can't tell how much I'm putting in Read more
Car fuel tanks are mostly plastic nowadays. They are also now fitted under the rear or centre floor since being moved from the rear of the car for safety in a collision.
So by necessity they are pretty much flat in profile....
Considering an electric vehicle and having a wall box installed. It is permissible or acceptable to have the wallbox mounted inside a double garage. Does charging an EV emit any flammable or noxious gasses.
For security inside the garage is better, also as I am one of those strange people who regularly garage both cars so this would be more convenient. However do not want to risk a fire or have any health issues. Read more
<< The cable monitors temps etc and suspends charging if it gets too hot, starts again once cooled down. No idea if this has happened, I don't live in the garage. >>

Whoops! Bit of an error there with 'fighting off the British Built Land Rover Defender!!!
I think if you check, the Defender is built in Slovakia in a new factory also building the Discovery 5.
The decision to site manufacturing outside the UK brought massive and strident complaints from the 'old guard' supporters of the previous Defender and its direct forebears which were all Solihull. These supporters vowed never to by one as they are not British built - probably an academic claim, as they also stated they would never buy one because of the over-inflated price............ My daughter has 3 children, 5, 7 and new born so wants a car with 3 Isoflex seats. The Citroen C4 Grand Picasso (to 2018) and Citroen Grand Space (2018 on) appeals as the second row of seats has 3 Isoflex.... Read more

At the end of the day skoda and volvo are completely different cars from a luxury perspective, so it doesn’t matter.
Helo, I've just got a VW Beetle 1.4 Luna convertible with a manual roof.
I put the roof down, but it does seem to lock into place and the overhead warning by the handle is lit, I have tried to open and close it several times and it won't lock open and the light stays lit. It will lock shut but the warning light is now still staying on. To make matters worse I put all 4 electric windows down and now they won't go back up! ... Read more
Sounds like the hood frame is distorted or out of alignment. Something in the mechanism may be bent . Probably not a cheap fix . The door lock problem is a separate issue and likely to be a fault with the door latch ( very common) .
Any chance that the car may not have been straightened out properly after a bump ? :-(
Hi I am thinking of changing my dual mass flywheel to a solid mass flywheel. But I was wondering will it cause problems or damage to my car please? I have heard that some people do have problems and some don't. My car is remapped so it's quite nippy .thanks Read more
The OP's car is a 55 plate, virtually worthless. If it needs a new flywheel a SMF will probably last long enough the see the car off to the scrappy in a couple of years time. Looking at it in that way it seems to be a no brainer.
If it was a much younger and more valuable car it would be different matter, then a new DMF would make sense.
I have got 17 inch alloys with Bridgestone 225/45/75 tyres. Factory fitted,

If this is an advisory on the MOT with small cracks between the treads ( rather than the side walls ) this seems to be very common. Keep an eye on the tyres and /or ask an honest tyre fitter for an opinion. They may not change before the tyres wear out ,

I have noticed this twice now in locations about 20 miles apart.. I did wonder if it was a North America thing. If i owned one I wouldn't want it incorporated into the head lamp
