"..... billionaire Jim Ratcliffe moved to Monaco while also deciding to build his Land Rover successor in France instead of Wales – all after supporting Brexit. " (Private Eye)
I respect people who voted either Leave or Remain, but it is disappointing those businessmen who supported Brexit, such as Mr Jim Ratcliffe, who should be supporting Britain are instead deciding to invest their money in other countries. Why not build those vehicles in Swindon, to make up for lost Honda jobs?

Not surprised you felt it was like a Ford Mondeo, it is based on the same Ford platform as the mk3 Ford Mondeo, the EUCD platform. If you google the platform it will come up with freelander 2 and contemporary volvos, but going up to 2017ish the Ewok was on what JLR call their D8 platform, which is actually just a heavily revised EUCD platform... Even I would call those things junk.
A few days ago my dad purchased a used X1 from a franchised Vauxhall dealer. I'm very unimpressed with the standard of the car however he went against my advice and purchased it.
He had confirmed via email that it was fitted with run flat tyres, however this is not the case. He is elderly and health problems so was an important feature. It has 3 X Turanza T001I They even stated the manager had double checked. They even fitted a new HyFly HF805 tyre onto the car which has a invoice value of £40. I've tried to find if this is a suitable tyre, regardless of it not being run flat. The car was over £15K and full market value. ... Read more

SE had a spare tyre = no runflats?...
Hi, I'm looking to replace the seat Ibiza that my wife and I currently drive, as we've just had a baby and the car just isn't big enough!
I'm quite keen on an estate car, I'm not a huge fan of SUVs and we don't need the expense of a people carrier yet.... Read more
I really rate the Mazda 6 estate. These are good looking, fun to drive, comfortable, decent on fuel and utterly reliable as long as you stick with the 2.0 petrol models. The diesels are sadly another matter with a reputation for premature engine expiry. £12k gets a nice one and personally I’d stick with the SE versions over the harder riding Sport. I wanted one when car shopping recently but swmbo overruled me and demanded an SUV.

When I first start my Yaris with the lights on and engage either first or reverse gear, if I then lift the clutch pedal, for a split second the headlights dim or flicker. This can happen a couple of times when I reverse the car out of my garage, put the car in neurtal and then engage reverse gear again to leave my drive. The rest of the day/night it seems to be all ok. I have had the battery and alternator checked with car in neutral and under full load (heater, fan, A/C, heated rear window) including all lights on. Plus all belts have been checked.
I presume this is a electrical load situation. However my Toyota dealer (car is under Toyota extended warranty) will charge me almost £100 if they find that it is normal and not a faulty component! Any Thoughts?... Read more
At 7 years + , there is bound to be some resistance in the wiring that could cause this problem. I suspect the problem is well within limits and would be difficult to fix easily. Take it Toyota , let them take £100 off you , and tell you there’s nothing wrong sir .
Hi everyone, I thought this would be an easy one - slow and intermittent settings work fine, fast does not.
But after tests I've found I have 12v at the wiper motor when on the fast setting, and no voltage drop (as measured between the connector (motor-side) and battery).
I also dismantled the motor and found I have continuity from the connector all the way to the bushes.
I tested the motor when disconnected from the mechanism, doesn't move in fast setting at all.
In the fast setting I have battery voltage to the High Speed, Reset and Gearmotor Supply wires.
Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance!! Read more
...never mind! Found the problem - there was a bad solder join between connector and motor, hidden under a big blob of adhesive. Connection was intermittent, hence testing OK initially. Re-soldered and all is good
My mx5 is 23 years old and is my daily driver and starts fine every time. I imported it from Japan and when it arrived it was rust protected and the protection is regularly topped up. There is no rust anywhere. I my have cheated by getting it from Japan!
this got me thinking what cars sold today could be on the road 23 years from now. For this let’s assume petrol cars are not banned or taxed to highly. Is it the fact that cars today have too much technology and will be too costly to keep on the road that is likely to kill most of them?... Read more
“ Very few people buy a new car intending to keep it till it expires - they usually get tempted by something more 'modern', shamed by the realisation of how far its value has dropped, or simply bored. The petrol 306 I mentioned above stayed with its lady owner for 20 years after she bought it (I suspect) as an ex-demo from her local Pug dealer, who continued to service it regularly.
There are a few such cars, but I think that is a dying habit.”...

... audi advised me next service in 2 years assuming mostly motorway driving. I was also concerned by the gap but audi saying its OK!
They would say that wouldn't they ? The good news is that the maker's warranty is not invalidated. The bad news may be that the car would have preferred shorter service intervals - long ones are there to make life cheaper for fleet operators....
Anyone know anything about this company, good or bad?

I purchased a 2nd hand high mileage honda civic from them. Car was well prepared and went fine. Two weeks later it had a brake problem which I asked my local garage to sort. I emailed Ashley and discussed the issue and they met the cost of the repairs in full no question. I am very happy with the service I received.
