fx.ex petrol;. my question is in what things Jaguar is better or worse compared to that brand is Jag more reliable and more cheap to maintain and more parts available or i really want to make the right choise.
Do u think Jaguar is better than, Honda,Lexus ,mazda,,Infinity or Volvo and if yes why : )

At the moment i am considering all of these brands so its hard , ... Read more

I can only speak for Volvos and have had a few. They have a reputation for being expensive, certainly main dealers charge highly for service but a good indie makes ownership costs down. My current V70 cost me 8k 5 years ago and has done about 80k since then. Usual tyres, bulbs, brakes, a battery but touch wood apart from servicing pretty good. These cars can do starship mileages if kept well and are surprisingly good to drive.

I'm struggling to make a decision on my next car. Shortlist is Freelander 2 sd4 GS/X's auto 10/11 plate with c100k miles for £7-8k, lexus rx450h se-i10 plated with 126k miles for £9k or santa Fe premium auto 12 plate with 55k miles for £8.5. Has to be an auto with a comfortable seat formedical reasons along with SUV due to living on a rutted unadopted bridleway. Heart says lexus as had an rx400h previously and loved it, but was over 15 years old so decided to move on. Concerned about 10yr service costs of Freelander as all are just before that's due and reports of poor reliability.

Surprised no one has mentioned Volvo XC60 if seat comfort is a priority.

I wouldn't get too worried about dpf, none of the cars listed are particularly known for issues....

For those like me who travelled on Christmas Day to be with family and a now waiting anxiously for the inevitable brown envelope it comes as little comfort to find the new HADEC 3 cameras are churning out tickets at an alarming rate. Over 40,000 in Surrey alone.
Time for a rethink perhaps when life returns to normal ? Read more

But the siting of the cameras should be where they do the most good and not where they collect the most money.

As it may be difficult to determine correctly where cameras might 'do the most good' I don't see why both these objectives should not be met, possibly as they are now....

Dear All, happy new year!!

I am running a survey to try to understand more about the car buying process for a potential idea I had. I would be MASSIVELY grateful if those who have bought a car in the past 2 years or are currently looking now could kindly take this survey. It will hopefully help me make the car buying process easier for you. Please do share the form to friends and family that are looking/bought.... Read more

I’ve had a couple of belt changes on a Scenic 1.5dci with engine in situ, but with a top engine mount removed. That’s fairly cramped as an engine bay, the only car I’ve ever had to use a funnel to top up the oil, and I’m just grateful the brake fluid never needed adding to.
The later 1.6dci, presumably the engine used by M-B, is a chain.

Seems I got my just-failed general purpose meter about 9 years ago on the recommendation of a local British mechanic, a Made in Taiwan model that was considered to be a fairly good one. Cost about 25 quid equivalent then, with a temperature measurement capability that I've never used... Read more

Car is 1986. Don't think my points have disappeared yet, though the current set is a bit worn, so I suppose they've "started to disappear". I do have a couple of spare sets though.

I have a timing light, and much to my surprise, actually found it in Taiwan ((!). The old geezer who dug it out of the stockroom for me was quite misty-eyed with nostalgia, or maybe just allergic to dust. No tach although the dash has a rev counter...
