We all know that common sense disappeared for many years ago and most seem to have the attention span of a goldfish.

However I was totally staggered this morning. Hertfordshire has its first dusting of snow in a while. Then on local radio we get reports of numerous minor accidents and the M1 southbound closed around J6/5. Whats so hard about driving to suit the conditions? Read more

I cleared 6 inches of snow off my car yesterday.

We have lived with two days of drivers in various vehicles believing foot to the floor is how you get up an icy 1:20 hill. That included an A3 quattro driver who had no understanding that tread on tyres is more important than the number of wheels driven....

I received my Over 70 years Licence Renewal notice from DVLA on 11th January and completed the online application on the 12th. Today, the 15th. I received my new licence in the post. How amazing! I thought DVLA was inundated with all sorts of backlog business dating back to last April's Lockdown. I just hope I can get an MOT sorted out in early Feb' so I don't have to SORN my vehicle until I can get it organised due to current restrictions. Read more

Its a quick process if you do it on line- yes- they use your passport photo which is already in the system. Bless public sector working practices- but sending hard copy takes an age what with staff working from home, isolating plus all the protocol excuses used splattered everywhere.

Difficult to guess what’s wrong . Loads of different components make up the wiper and wash circuits. Need to get the system tested .

The windows on my daughters 16 plate Fiesta froze shut the other day. She found out when she tried to open them! Since then they have a mind of their own, opening sometimes, refusing others even when not frozen. I sprayed some silcon oil on the rubber seals and it seemed to sort it, but today they wouldn't open again for a bit and then,10 minutes later, they did! This is a problem with the windows both sides and from either door switch.

Anyone any suggestions for whats going on please?... Read more

Sounds like the window system has lost its memory programme. Disconnect the car battery for 10 mins , then use the window re-learn sequence to reinstate operation . Should be in owners handbook.

Anyone any thoughts or experience of a 2016 BMW 630i 2dr coupe. It really looks the part in black with the chunky alloys.I 'm still looking for a Str6 V6 V8 alternative to a dodgem car. Read more

My friend has fitted a Kenwood DAB radio adaptor to her 207 SW.
The car suddenly stopped a day after but restarted when she took the adaptor out of the power socket.
Knowing how fragile the electronics are on the Peugeot. Could this be the cause because the radiation signals interfered with the cars electronics ? Read more

Thanks elekie,

Nothing has been changed just a coincidence the car stopped on the A14 a day after the Kenwood was connected....

wasnt apple in the limelite recently , for messing with the software to degrade the phone batteries. could tesla do likewise

some call it building in obsolescence, though Apple allegedly is doing it in a big way, but don`t see why Tesla would do it if it gives them a bad name....

I need to buy an lhd car quickly. Has anyone experience of using the lhd place in Basingstoke? I’d appreciate all views. Thank you. Read more

Had a quick look at their site and blimey what a rip-off. How’s this for overpriced? A 9yr old Fiat Panda with 39,000 and only “some” service history for £4650!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ruddy Nora, I could buy 4 of them for that money.

I’d give them a miss. There’s no reason to buy a lhd car here to import into Europe if it’s not any cheaper plus it’s a pain for paperwork. Buy it there instead or simply stick with rhd for a holiday vehicle.

I've never owned a black car and have no intention of doing so. Only had one white car and two silver or grey, albeit second hand. Lives should be full of colour.

If colour reflects personality most buyers of new cars are a dull lot. www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry-news/grey-was-...0 Read more

When buying secondhand an unpopular colour reduces the price. My daily driver is a metallic gold and it was cheaper than other similar cars in more popular colours. Suits me. I just want the best deal.

I have always bought whatecer is available when I have go serious about buying....

Yesterday I found some water under the car and was not sure if it was through the garage wall or from the car. The radiator is topped indirectly from a plastic bowl with a plastic screw cap to the left of the radiator normaly you can see the water level through this plastic bowl but it is now grubby with age and difficult to see through. I decided to take the plastic cap off to check the water level but it was very tight and I had a struggle to unscrew it all the way out. It is also going to be very tight to screw all the way back in (its not cross threaded) and I am afraid I will not tighten it down enough. The cap is probably tight because its not been unscrewed many time as the car has only done 20,00 miles. Would it be safe to spray a few drops of oil or spray silicone lubricant or wd 40 on the plastic cap thread to ease it or would these cause damage.

Thanks Read more

Why every 4 years? Seems ridiculously overcautious...c.f. Ford 10yrs.

Depends on the spec of the antifreeze. Uncles Suzuki is still every 3 years....
