My car went in for its MOT on Tuesday. After about an hour, the service advisor came over "I'm afraid your car has failed, the front washers aren't working"
Me: "They are, I've used them this morning and I had a new pump and nozzles last year"... Read more

As is usual these days, prices are kept artificially high by loading cars with too much "tech" which most buyers do not want or need.
Navigating a touchscreen menu whilst driving is just as dangerous as using a mobile phone, yet it is becoming difficult to buy a new car without one.
My son was manouvering into a parallel parking spot and when stationary he says another car driving along same road hit him on passenger door which won't now open. Name address driving licence insurance company exchanged but no phone numbers. Other driver has less than three year old car all taxed ok and my son has a 2002 Fusion and is a student. Do we contact the guy asap before talking to insurance companies or not..... Maybe he would do a cash settlement? Just worried it's going to affect his insurance what ever way it goes he didn't think it was his fault.... Any advice accepted gratefully Read more
It was a relative of the owner driving as well.
Was the driver actually insured? ...
I use One.Network site (used to be called Elgin or Roadworks.org) t keep track of incidents/accidents in my local area and also, on behalf of my trucker son, main roads throughout the country. I've received an email fron One.Network to advise that due to Data Protection Rules (as assumed by Department of Transport) and something called Street Manager, I can no longer receive, as a member of the public, in-depth details of roadworks etc. One.Network states that:-
" These are pieces of information designed to supply extra detail about any given roadworks, and where they're carried out. They're more sensitive than other bits of roadworks information, which is why the Street Manager rules affect them"... Read more
Deryck. Thanks, I am glad to see I am not alone.
Hi everyone, I recently had a leak in one of the rear windows so this has been repaired with sealant. All good. However, I can NOT get rid of the sealant smell! The car has been sat outside with the windows open for a few days (in between the rain) but it's no better...does anyone have any tips to get rid of the smell? Main problem is that my baby's car seat is right next to that side of the car and I don't want to expose her to it :-( Read more
In fairness, Wynn’s website does say that is waterproof and can be used as a window sealant, among many other uses.
It doesn’t state any drying times, however.
If you do not agree or want to avoid politics, no pressure to read this thread.
A few people have been commenting that politics shouldn't come into a motoring forum. However I think cars and politics are heavily intertwined and find this aspect of motoring fascinating. Saab drivers were stereotyped as dentists, Mondeo Man got a mention by Tony Blair as a key group, the original Mini totally ignored class divides... this is a short list so any other recollections welcomed! ... (Ok Trumps not all that obese, but I was on a roll).
According to various sources his BMI is just over 30, the threshold for a diagnosis of obesity. ...
I see the spammers have really hit the forum big time, lots of posts for something or other, do they not realise nobody is going to buy anything from them..?, I guess it’s auto fill or something, anyway, good look avant with clearing that lot, I don5 envy you... Read more

The pondlife come back with new Email addresses, and we don't have any way of stopping them - except, if they really are robots, I'll ask Kalpesh if we can get one of those filters which gets you to type some letters into a box.
Our 2005 Clio 1.2 8v is due its MOT next Month, but has a misfire - the RevCounter is also stuck partway around its travel.
The misfire comes and goes, but is sometimes bad enough to stop the car - restarting can make the misfire go away. The tyres are not great either, but still legal.... Read more
Thanks for the responses everyone.
We've decided to scrap the Clio - got a quote for over 200 pounds which we're happy with....

Hi all,
I parked in a loading bay one Sunday when it was outside the "loading only" hours. I thought it was ok. Only found out that I was issued a parking ticket when collecting my car.... Read more
