Just wondering if anybody has noticed that on a lot of cars that have an amber bulb incorporated into the headlamp assembly that serves as the indicator, that when the led headlamps are on it is very difficult to make out the amber flashing indicator,.This was never a problem when cars had separate indicators. It is also time someone did something about self levelling headlamps,no system can react quick enough to an uneven road with the consequent dazzling to the car in front. This is another good idea that does not work,a esparate issue is the absolute fortune it costs to replace said item, hence the large number of vehicles driving around with just one working headlamp

Yes, that is something I have noticed.

I intend asking my IFA about this next week but wondered if any of the backroomers knew the answer to this question.

I've recently taken out a life insurance plan for myself. On death (or critical illness) it will pay my wife (the named beneficiary) a fixed amount of money each month so as she recieves an income to live off as I obviously won't be around to earn it for us.... Read more

I agree with Ethan: but it's not all that surprising as the IFA earns commission for setting up as new separate policy.

I was set up with one of these some years ago with an outfit called Unum. Eventually I stopped it and changed to a new IFA, as neither policy nor IFA were worth it.

Hi. On these really cold mornings the car is taking a fair few turns of the engine to start, I suspect either the heater plugs or relay..however the first problem is despite much googling I cannot locate the heater plugs, so I can at least test them..Has anyone any ideas..I know where they usually are located but I cant even find four wires to follow that may help locate them..any help would be much appreciated? Hi Thanks for the replies, I have tried the on off cycles which didnt appear to make any difference, Its just as well i couldnt locate the heater plugs, I was intending to disconect them then “flash” 12 Volt to see if they were dead....it would appear things have moved on from my Peugeot 504 diesel days, I will get the battery checked and cranking speed, then go from there...Thanks again

Car:Vauxhall Astra 2010 (diesel, 6 gears)

Ive just bought the car and noticed when i put it into 5th and let the speed decline on its own or if i brake and end up at 30mph the car will try and speed its self back up to 40 without me touching the pedals. Is this normal?

Every other gear seems to work fine, cruise controll is off 100% the car just trys to speed its self up. Only seems to speed up to 40mph.

Thanks

Question Bonnet release.
JOHN NISBET

I am unable to open the bonnet on my Merc b180.I have located the red internal lever which opened the bonnet the usual inch or so. I can't find the t shapers handle which should project from the grille. Any suggestions? Read more

These concealed releases can be tricky to find by feel. If the bonnet has lifted that inch or so, you just have to try pulling or pushing up, down or sideways until something happens. If all else fails, get a torch and peer underneath.

Its good in that the plant remains viable. I'd be interested to know the workforce changes needed to manufacture more batteries and less cars though.

I’m so reticent to use an ice scraper these days after badly scratching a previous car’s screen right in my eye line. Other than just sitting there until the car warms up, does anyone have any helpful tips to clear a screen of thick ice and frozen snow safely please? Read more

I’ve got a 2019 Jag XF that has a remote start feature from the app, which will remotely start the car and will heat it to the desired temperature. The car key remains in the Faraday pouch, the doors remain locked and the gear selector that rises stays down during remote start.

After 10-15 mins the ice has defrosted and the car is nice and warm. Obviously the negative is the environmental impact of a car idling.
