I am looking for a cheap convertible car under £3k if possible... Read more
After some long discussions with my wife and friends, she came up with the idea of running a franchise of some description in a couple of years time.
Before we make the plunge, I would like to know the typical running costs and what licences we need to apply for. I think there is a street traders licence and we need to have hygiene certificates?... Read more

If it is so good - why aren't the idea owners doing it themselves?...
Hi is there a data base anywhere of torque converter autos as I am looking for a high seating position auto petrol runabout...but am fed up of trying to find out whats not a semi automatic or automated manual etc.....the car will be petrol and prob around 5k. Ta Read more
As far as the car ownership pattern goes (though I've always had mine serviced on schedule at main dealers), mine sounds very similar, though one car behind at 2 cars in 21 years. Current one 13yo and counting...admitedly I would like a new one and this time with an auto (a proper one), but current financial circumstances won't allow that. Not too worried though.
Bit unsure how it works when you purchase a car from 2017 onwards that cost more than £40k new. Do you pay £140 first year than an additional £310 for the next 5 years (£450 a year!). You might aswell add a few grand extra for the car!

Note that the 'new' price is the list price, including any optional extras onboard and delivery costs (?) - i.e. the 'on the road' price. Some cars could just tick over the £40k mark if they have some optional extras - so be careful when looking at luxury/sports saloons/barges from Germany and Japan - a car that looks to be a steal 2nd hand at half the new price may bite you in the backside on VED and insurance.
It's one of the reasons why it's better to spec any dealer-installed optional extras for a new car near the £40k bracket after you've bought it, as that won't be included in the original purchase and can't be artifically added in after the fact.
Good idea. Read more
My car is currently being fixed at a garage. Several problems have been solved. Although one error keeps reoccurring. I’ve been told it’s related to the cam shaft. The sensor has been changed, timing checked, wiring checked and it’s still showing the fault code. I desperately need my car back, it’s not the ecu either as that already got sent away and came back clear. What else could be causing the code?! Read more
Okay thankyou I’ll ask tomorrow and find out
Hi
Could you give me a little advice, please?... Read more
It could be a fat fingered technician at the mot but it still wont stop the car having a mileage discrepancy and causing me issues with selling the car. I've had 2 traders refuse to buy the car so far.

I remember some years back the story of how two Hillman Hunters (1725cc 5 bearing) were driven to Brands Hatch. One filled with standard oil, the other with Molydusolfied. Bothe cars were drained of oil and run around for 10 laps. Ordinary oil seized and theor other filled back with the Molyslip and driven home. Examined by AA, molyslip car suffered little wear. So on came the product called Molyslip, an additive that would "cure" some issues.
Seemed to me that some sawdust would quiet an engine/back axle just as well, for a short time.... Read more
'Mind, I did hear Toyota's "cure" for the oil burning ZZFE was a longer dip stick, (more oil with the mark higher up). Interesting.'
.. Not true at all, a new dipstick was only required after fitting a new non-oil restrictive modified engine....

Thank you for the article. It was fascinating for me to read. And I agree with you that school and then college is an important part of life for any person. Therefore, you need to take this period as seriously as possible. After all, young people very often experience the learning process. This is especially true for academic homework, such as essay writing. Personally, I use coursework writers https://essayshark.com/ to get the best possible result. After all, I do not have enough knowledge and writing talent to write complex academic articles and term papers. And with the help of this service, I get high-quality content and do not waste my time.
Hi all,
Hope all is well with you all.
I have been working in the security industry with a very low living wage for the last few years with long hours (Over 16 hour working shifts at times for a while now as well) and now have decided to get my Class 2 and then a Class 1 straight after as missus is expecting a baby also and need more money but have some questions even though I have read some posts here and google and training provider websites but still need help. Please forgive me for the noob questions or if they have been answered before, I am sorry in advance.
A little bit about my personal situation, in early 2016 I have had a DR20: Driving or attempting to drive while unfit through drink and a DR30: Driving or attempting to drive then failing to supply a specimen for analysis. I do not want to get into the details and defend myself here but basically, I was not actually driving nor attempted to drive but that is another story. I had gone through a tag for several months to ensure I was not drinking etc., did community service, paid a fine and did a course to reduce it by 6 months. You are free to criticize me anyhow you want but if you could, please also try to answer my questions below too, if you can.
I have had my license back for nearly a year now with no other issues and now have a D2 form in front of me and confused about some sections of the form, here are my questions about the form and queries about obtaining a license to drive lorries of the Classes mentioned:
1) In Section 1 - What are you applying for
a) I want to apply for a Class 2 and also a Class 1 as I want to do it consecutively to improve my chances of work, which boxes do I tick exactly in the part of "First provisional entitlement"?
b) Do I need to tick any boxes in the part of "Additional provisional entitlement" also?
2) In Section 2 - Your conduct
a) Do I need to disclose the unspent convictions from 2016 I have highlighted in point 1? As far as aware they stay unspent for 5 years and on DVLA for 11 years.
3) Depending on your view to point 2 and due to the nature of my convictions, is there any point applying for this license or I should not even bother wasting my time and try another field?
4) Once I have my license potentially, how will I acquire insurance with a company? What is the basic insurance process for CLass 2 and Class 1 drivers at agencies or Companies?
Thank you very much in advance for any advice and your answers to the above.
All the best. Read more
Today was one of my now rare trips into London.
Not guilty M'lud.
No point in flowering it up or giving the OP false hopes, best try another avenue of work for at least the next 8 or 9 years.

Does anyone live east-anglia and would to help with checking a car?
