My new Dacia Stepway rear passenger side door has what I consider to be an excessive gap between it an the rear wing and sill.

The gap is noticeably wider than the passenger door on the other side.I took the car back to the dealership and although the salesman admitted there was a noticable difference he said that basically its a budget mass produced car and these kind of things had to be expected and that it must be within Dacias tolerances.... I had a tour round a car factory years ago and watched a worker align doors which he did with wooden levers placed one end on the door cill and with the lever running under the door he gave a couple of good pulls upwards to raise the door. Skill and brute force combined.

I thought that sort of practice went out with the original Defender and Mini. Clearly not....

Lovely car, a good model with plenty of appeal when you come to sell it on too. Economical, quite quick and sporty but not uncomfortable. I really rate this particular engine and trim.

Hello there,

Is is ok to shampoo heated fabric seats?... Read more

Shouldn’t be a problem as long as you don’t flood the fabric with water . The heating element is contained within its own material pad.

The Toyota Proace Verso did really well. I thought its centre of gravity would be too high for it to be any good.

Hi all, I've just been slapped with a £250 fine for inadvertently driving within the London low emission zone, in my old Mazda pick-up. I was under the impression that you were issued with a warning for the first time you were picked up driving in the LEZ (not the reason I drove within it BTW) Anything I can do about it?

Here's hoping. Thanks. Read more

Bromptonaut

Your post states you entered the LEZ so unless there's been a mistake around it's type and need for a LEZ permit there's no mileage in an appeal. As others have pointed out pay the £250 whilst you can.

Like Council Parking fines and Congestion Charge fines it WILL go to bailiffs if ignored and the cost will escalate.

I’d be hoping the tanks and tank management practices are up to scratch. The station is practically brand new!

Someone will undoubtedly say otherwise, but on every occasion over the past 40 years that i have dealt with DVLA and their local office predecessors, and I have given correct documentation, my query has been dealt with rapidly, be it a change of vehicle, licence, renewal of a licence after a medical query .

Yes every time!

I looked at my car by chance while in the house and saw the indicators were all flashing, like I'd put the hazard warning lights on, but flashing faster. No idea how long it had been going. Looked at the dashboard, no message on the screen. I waited about 1 minute then unlocked using remote, from then everything normal. Any ideas? Read more

Evening,

Looking at a car tomorrow so need insurance, if all goes well I will need to get train next week to go get it.

Two lots of day insurance is more than one month of a full policy.

So, is it ok to take the full policy out and cancel it if tomorrow doesn't go well, and on the bright side if it does go well I'm covered for 12 months?

Thanks Read more
