Hi , can anyone please give me some advice.

Looking to spend up to £3000( less if possible) on a mid size estate or a big hatchback .

I do around 17k a year with a mix of motorway long runs and town driving.

I have been looking at Octavias - Honda Civics - Volvo V50 , Reliabilty and MPG are more
important than gizmos or speeds but heard some horror stories with newer diesels .

Current car is a ford Fusion diesel that was bought at 85k and now just reached 150k
but cost me a new clutch and Flyweek ( £700 ) - A couple of Leaking Injectors ( £300 )
- Shock Absorbers ( £150 ) in 3 years .

Any help would much appreciated as my cars clutch is slipping slightly
in the high gears so need a replacement asap .

Thanks in advance

I'm delighted to hear it's all worked out well and hope it continues for many years to come without fuss.

I'll quaff a beer or two for you at the weekend...

My 2011 1.2 TSI DSG-7 is a car with 41,000 km on the clock. I have only done 7000 km since buying it 13 months ago. It lost all 2nd/4th/Reverse gears, so got it towed into our Skoda dealer. I received a call today to say that the Mechatronic unit was gone (1660 Euro) & that I may also need to have the clutches replaced (1390 Euro). Although just out of warranty, Skoda would not even consider going some way towards the acknowledgement of a problem......even after only 41000 km of driving - ie 'Skoda do not expect a DSG 7-speed to last beyond 41000 km???

My last 1.6 Petrol DSG(6) gave no bother over a 10 yr period - We (family) have all bought Skoda's for YEARS...but no acknowledgement of our custom/loyalty - not looking for a 'freebie', just a goodwill gesture...even a free service!... Read more

Hi, after a bit of advice.

I called into my local Kia garage on sunday thinking about possibly getting a smaller car than my current vehicle. The salesman came over agreed a budget and i outlined the specs i required (handsfree, aircon, dab radio etc).... Read more

If you want to get grumpy with them the FCA will be interested in hearing from you as it's all about 'treating the customer fairly' which it would appear you have not been.

Ask who the funder is, chances are you can take that acceptance somewhere else.

Would be perhaps useful to give them a time (maybe to the end of the week) to find a suitable alternative before burning bridges.

Good Luck,

I have a life time warranty to which I needed to make a claim. The water pump and thermostats housing were leaking. The vauxhall garage told me it should be covered by the warranty so made a claim only to be told that the warranty company were sending out an engineer to inspect to which he did. Problem came as he said it was wear and tear ! OK but everything is wear and tear so where is the line in the sand ? Vauxhall garage even though they say it should be covered can't complain to vauxhall as vauxhall have farmed warranty off to another company so is the warranty worth the paper it's written on? Might as give up and buy a Ford again if this is how there after sales work! BE WARNED Read more

I was going to go on the site and abuse the stupid trolls but cried off after AVG warned me off.

The woman concerned needs to calm down and stop watching Jeremy Kyle or Loose Women or whatever tripe she watches.

She is attempting to extort money which in itself is illegal. Advise her that if she wishes to call the police that is her choice but you are not being blackmailed and if she does so you will in turn report her for that. Additionally she is lying saying your wife left the scene (assuming what you have said on here is true). Clearly she did not, rather park safely and exhange details so the woman is now clearly stating she is willing to lie to the police if you do not meet her blackmail demands....

After some good advice from someone on this forum, we have decided to replace the starter motor on this car. Unfortunately, all info seems to relate to Troopers with V6 engines - or in the US. Could anyone be kind enough to tell us in words of one syllable the procedure. ~They keep telling us to remove left hand exhaust manifold pipe. Ours does not have one...

Many thanks... Read more

Joe, it will be a pre engaged starter on the Trooper, haven't dealt with a broken Bendix spring since i had dark hair, reckon me bendix spring compressor will be rusted away by now if i even had a hope in hell of finding it..:-)

I'm about to pick up a new Mazda 3 tomorrow. I ended up working with 2 dealers and eventually securing a pretty large discount off list price. Anyway, at the time of agreeing the deal and paying deposit the dealer added paint protection (£400) and gap insurance (£400) to the invoice. He said (after giving me the sales pitch), "dont worry, we can take them off when you pick up if you don't want them" I was a little suspicious and insisted on adding a ? Next to them, which I think went through the carbon copy but I can't remember for sure.

Trouble is I'm paranoid now that the dealer will try and force it through perhaps by claiming he thought I wanted it and the car has already been treated, and of course it can't be untreated... Hopefully he was just doing it to try to get me more likely to agree, and perhaps meet end of August sales targets (it was late August when I paid the deposit). Trouble is I don't trust him because he lied to me initially about the first discounted price that he offered, spinning some story about Mazda giving them a special deal so they could grow as a dealer in the area, when I know full well its just because Mazda have excess 2016 Mazda 3s they need to shift ahead of the imminent 2017 Mazda 3 launch.... TL:DR yep, I was paranoid. everything was fine, didn't pay for any extras

OK, so I showed up to collect the car and it's sat out front. Introduced to staff member Ben who presumably deals with finalising paperwork / sales, my sales guy (Ian) is there and we say hello and have a quick small talk chat but then he disappears to his office....
