I just topped up my Skoda with coolant: BLUECOL'u' clear.
It said:
'Universal top-up antifreeze & coolant'
'All makes - All Models'
'Will mix safely with all colours of antifreeze'
Then I dug out the manual which states:
'The same coolant (G12) (red in colour) MUST always be used for topping up.'
'Mixing different coolants can result in damage to the engine'
'Have the coolant replaced immediately'
Is this true?
Thanks.

Use 50/50 it's for corrosion protection not for freeze protection.

Any advice on finding service schedules for 2010 Fiesta 1.25 Zetec very welcome please. Have tried Ford's etis website. The drop-down options for vehicle types don't seem to include this model, which in UK is a common one I think. I'm wondering if I'm looking at a USA model version?? Read more
Thanks jc2. Tried that but getting etis website error. But at least I know which option to look at and will try again later. Thanks again.

Very, very wise words !
about the spanner summoning scallywags !
I don't fix the car outside the house anymore,
as I was getting pestered to death !
...and for me,
since I am new to all this,
a moments distraction can cause all sorts of problems !
It is unbelievable what they have been asking, as I under the car, juggling bits, and trying to remember what goes where !
I think that if they see someone fixing things,
then they guess that he must be a "fixer of things"
Whilst up to my arms in oil,
I've been summonsed from a random person on the pavement
"can you fix my boiler"
"my sewing machines not sewing.."
"can you fix my tv"
"can I borrow your tools"
..and then they get the umph when I say "sorry mate, I'm not just handing them out" (I have never seen these people in my life !)
Great to hear that you are not working too hard :)
Enjoy !
All the best Gordon and many thanks for your help over the years.
Cheers
Liam
This is quite interesting - a photographer gained access to MG-Rover's Longbridge plant, which was virtually abandoned over a decade ago when the company went belly-up.

I ran an elderly P5 Coupe for some years. Probably one of the best cars I have owned. Thirsty but quite reliable.

Just had my handbrake cables replaced. It was a job that I considered doing myself, but we live on a steep hill so getting underneath the car for any length of time is decidedly ropey. Time maybe to put that driveway in.
Got the car back, eventually (because the job was meant to be done yesterday but only the rear cables turned up from the supplier so it had to be rescheduled for today), took it home and found that the plastic handbrake cover was sitting loose on the console, the lugs underneath the cover having been broken clean off when it was removed by what must have been brute force. Called the garage and right enough the guy apologised and said he would get a replacement. ... Read more
I have not heard of a electronic parking brake being stolen before. Another reason to avoid.
I did hear of someone attending a dance at a local village hall and having the starter motor stolen. We can't avoid having a starter motor but at least it's cheaper.
Thanks for feeding back. Glad all is ok
