Hi All
I have noticed recently that when driving at low speeds, I can hear a "whup whup" sound (which goes in tandem with the speed of the car, but diappears when the car goes over 30-35mph, and the sound is almost like a dry metal rubbing sound). Long shot, but any ideas what this can be?... Read more
On my favourite subject of pointless roadworks again... ;-)
What software/models do the planners use to model traffic when planning roadworks/changes etc? I'm not convinced its worth it based on recent experiences.... Read more
That might actually be too close to the truth!
Don't think so - the result would be better if they did!

Leaseman is correct.
Its a misunderstanding of some buyers which take a PCP that they are only borrowing the full cost less GFV so only need to pay half this amount back before VT....
Hi, i have a 2006 impreza 2.0 r engine . i bought the car from the previous owner in may 2015. for 1 month the car worked well. as soon as you touch the gas pedal it will shoot off, acceleration great and top speed about 190 km. as soon as i changed the rim and tyres it died. it had 16's and i put 17's, but the manual said i can make that change. it started to flat spot bad and go dead. it will crawl up small hills gas pedal to board. on flat roads as well, flat spot, dead, no acceleration. then suddenly it will take off again with a spurt but will soon die down again. on the highway 3rd and 4th gears no problems. it will fly. but it never worked again as it did the first month.
i have tried to reset the ecu, but it will work better just for about 2 days and then go back again to working horribly. i have been to 5 mechanics . they said the changing of the rims will not cause that, just coincidence. i have changed new fuel filter with regulator. also the fuel pump. we put a gauge to check the psi of the pump and it held up fine- no problems.serviced the air filter. i changed the knock sensor. i replaced the air flow sensor. i serviced the injectors and throttle body four times at different mechanics. i changed the timing belt and tension-er and pulleys - . i changed the engine and transmission oils. i changed the spark plugs. sometimes on the highway the 4th gear will take long to go in and when i try to kick down, it will not and the same gear will run. the 1st and second gear will sometimes go in with a hard buck.... Not really caring about what other mechanics have said.
Do you still have the other sized rims?...
Hi All
I have a private 7 seater MPV (with 3 child seats), and a company van (business only). We are approaching the stage where we may need a second car for family logistics. I do have an option to get a company car but no choice on what it is with only a bottom end Insignia or Astra available.
My question is do we get a cheap run about and keep the van or is it worth paying the the tax etc for a company car?
Very difficult to find information on the net regarding this situation, others must have faced it.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I should have given a bit more detail.
The van is company supplied with a fuel card with no option of private use. We must keep the MPV as it has 3 full size seat in the middle row for the kiddie seats. So this is the car we would use 90% of the time. The 2nd car would only be used when absolutely necessary.
I don't mind keeping the works Corsavan on my drive in the event of having a 2nd car.

Got my car back after three months at repairers following 'no fault' collision damage...£5k or so to fix. Three months of hire cars but mine looks very good now. I have no claims protection but reckon my premiums will rise. Tip.... if you are hit by another vehicle...take pictures of ALL of your car not just the new damage so any later disputes can be resolved more easily. Read more
It sounds like a good £deal-well done. I suspect many insurers could well have gone for a write off instead of a £5k+ repair bill?...how old was the car?
We're all familar with the exorbitantly-priced metallic paint options; Kia appears to have reached new heights with their Niro pricing in Spain - paint is now a priced option - metallics €450 + tax - plain white €150 + tax - no "free" choices available. They don't have a configurator on their UK website, so can't check if it's spread there - probably will if they can get away with it. Read more
So Kia in Spain is going the "Ryanair route"! Perhaps we'll soon be returning to the heady days of the 1970s when manufacturers piled on charges for "extras" like seat belts and number plates which were legally mandated.
"Delivery charge" is one that particularly irks me. Having recently shelled out a fairly substantial sum for a brand new Toyota Auris, I find that the delivery charge is from manufacturer via the Spanish importer all the way to the dealer - a delivery that cannot physically be eliminated from the equation! - but I am expected to make the last 10km of the journey from home to dealer (metro or bus plus Shanks' pony) myself, although the dealer has offered to collect me from the metro station!

Anyone?
