Hello all,

If a main road with double white lines. Turning right into a business entrance would involve crossing the lines - I understand this is legal according to the TSRaGD 2002 s.26. What doesn't seem to be covered anywhere, however, is exiting the business. Is it legal to turn right onto the main road, crossing the double white lines?... Read more

"Which begs the question - is it legal to cross double white lines to pass a pedestrian, mobility scooter or broken-down vehicle moving slowly - assuming it's safe to do so ?"

Yes - it always has been within the law to overtake said vehicles by crossing a solid white line - as long as they are travelling at less than ten mph....

I wonder why HJ still considers that it is OK to inflate tyres to the manufacturers suggested pressures with hot tyres rather than accepting that the given pressures are for tyres when cold.

I too think VW are doing their level best to avoid properly addressing these issues.

Further when I logged on their booking in website it was free collection of the car until the paymentline. Then they wanted a Tenner. After Tweets and phone calls etc they blamed the dealer.Finally...nothing can be done implying doing things in this direction situation wasn't policy. In the end AA are coming to do it at the house in an hour free....

But will it have a full sized spare tyre or at least a space saver? My family run three Hondas and I'd only consider buying another if it had one of these options as standard. Read more

Please Honda, make sure the ride is comfortable.

I want to sell my car, it might be worth about £900 or less. Auto trader recommended £500, but there is a lot of crap around that price, and my car is better then that.

Someone told me the best place is to sell it on Autotrader, but the advertising costs seem to be pretty steep.

Are there any special offers around?... Read more

Long story; we bought a car, not seen the car from the dealership but test drove another. Load of messing around with V5 forms and the like before we got the car, delivered. Finance was a bit of Neg equity from a trade in and then the car purchase, we put £2k in too.

We were then owed some money from a part payment of the old HP agreement we had, but that was going onto the card on delivery day (27/8). Then became cheque, then was finally received today........... Read more

The dealers have been back and forth with the note, no tax refund ever came (car was never registered) but they did offer £1k refund and the car tax back (even though this is our money regardless).

Rejected as we want a deal unwinding or indeed to put us in the position pre purchase, which would see around £5k to be returned to us. They sold the car at the price we purchased for it...... About a week after.... ...

Hi guys.
I was driving to work the other morning an there was no power half way through the trip. Seemed like the turbo had gone an there was some white smoke coming from the back. Left car at work until
I could get it booked in a few days later.
On that trip there was an ton of smoke and there was oil coming out of the exchaust. Mechanic said he could change the turbo but it may be something else which may cause it to fail again.
Any ideas.
Would really appreciate any help. Read more

When I rode single cylinder motorcycles (1950s) the engine almost always ran noticeably more smoothly when it was raining. There was an equipment on sale to drip feed water into the carburettor but I didn't have any experience of that device. This morning I saw in the IEEE OnLine newsletter a snippet that Bosch have developed a Waterboost system that improves the fuel consumption by 13%. "What goes around, comes around". Read more

Andy - car a/c does do both jobs - cooling the incoming air condenses excess moisture which drains out of the system and the air is then warmed to required temperature by the car's engine coolant.

They may not have the fine control that buildings use, and certainly don't increase humidity in dry air - but they do control it to some extent....

What is the best used general purpose / camping / small trailer eg Erde / Daxara? They all seem the same and seem to retain their price well. There is a max length of 4' 6" at our local tip fordomestic use trailers. I dont like putting all the garden refuse in the car and cleaning out after every trip. Read more

This sounds like a case of dry joints common with french cars , the french like things to be biodegradeable lead free and non violent so use solder manufactured to EU standards but it has a hi alloy content , take a piece of EU solder and put next to a hi lead content one and you will see the EU one is very stiff whereas the hi lead one is softer , dependent on your skill set you just take it out and use decnt solder on all of the connections on the board ,

11 years is trucking on VW call 7 years end of life there are a lot of companies that re solder these ciruit boards and check them ,...
