Hi all,
I am looking for a used Yaris, I've found a couple for sale fairly close to me, just looking for a little advice about which might be the better bet.
Both a listed a shade under £5000, from dealers, both have service history, both TR trim.
One is 2012 (62 plate), 38000 miles, 3 door
The other is 2013 (63 plate), 85000, 5 door
The 2013 should have some manufacturers warranty left which is appealing, but 85000 is pretty high. 5 doors is also appealing.

I'm completely clueless about cars so on the lookout for some recommendations. I'm looking to buy within the next year. I have 2 children so the car needs to have good safety rating and reasonable boot space, isofix rear and front etc but I don't really want anything too big like a saloon or an SUV. Reasonably fuel efficient or at least not a guzzler. Budget 10k but willing to buy second hand. TIA Read more
Lots of good suggestions above. When recommending cars it's easy to forget the Skoda Rapid. It's not liked by the magazines, but I had a 1.2 Rapid as a courtesy car for a day and was surprised how lively it was. The SEAT Toledo is identical as Smileyman says, but even more people forget about it and so there aren't many used ones around. Both these will be cheaper secondhand than the equivanelt Volkswagen, so you'd gewt a newer one for your £10k.
The Kia Venga is upright and roomy (it's the Hyundai ix20 that's the same model) - a good idea if you can find one: also add the Nissan Note and Honda Jazz to your list - both have lots of room in a smallish overall size of car....
I have just bought a ford focus 09 plate. It has the 6000 CD stereo. This is the 1-10 button type and not the 1-6. It is locked at the moment. I have the code but no manual. I know you type the code in incrementily via the 1-4 buttons but what button and how long do i press it for. Thanks Paul.
PS a link to the manual would be great. I can find one to the 6 button version but not the 10. Read more

Its being passed to a indie vw garage. Evan halshure told me they wouldn't want to do it as they deal with fords and not vw. It goes in on the 26th now so I guess I'll see. I'll post back with the results

My Mum has just inherited a classic icon from her uncle a lovely 1962 300sl roadster. It has been in a garage coverd up since before I was born I think the year was 1982 from what my mum told me. The car passed it's MOT without a single advisory but I'm thinking to maybe keep it off the road until spring next year.
Hi. recently had fuel filter warning light on dash, it came on then off immediately, but then had a drop in power, wouldn't go over 3.5 RPM. light indicates water in filter. Thanks Peter, but why would there be water in the Fuel ? i did virtually empty a tank & refilled, but you think it's still contaminated ? would you think that it may be something more sinister.

I recently read a small article in a magazine about the w***el engine. A rotary engine with fewer moving parts than a normal piston engine.
At the time it was seen as the future and a major advancement to the internal combustion engine. What happened? I know that Mazda make a car with a rotary engine, but if it had such potential why was it not truly developed on a larger scale? I am not a mechanical engineer but the concept sounds very good. The current Yaris (third generation) came out part way through 2011, so those regsitered in 2011 may be either the second or third generation.
