Do you know how to disable the very annoying chime that sounds when the drivers door is opened. Read more
My car have problems of can start but can't keep running Read more
This should be in the Technical section, but there's no point in moving it across as nobody can give you a worthwhile answer based on so little information.
Post a new thread in Technical and give more detailed information about the problem - e.g. is it when cold or hot?.....how long will it run for?
I recently had a new a/c condenser fitted at my local garage, at a cost of £450 when I collected the car the a/c was still not working despite a new condenser and re-gas I was told by the garage it would take a few days for the new condenser to work properly due to all the gas leaking out of the system.
Are there any mechanics out there that can confirm if this is true or not as it seems odd to me as I feel I've been ripped off. Read more
It's good that you've qualified that you went in with a fault, no a/c and asked them, as experts, to fix it, instead of you going in saying, I've got no a/c, I think it's the condensor, sling one on for me please.
They've done a bad diagnosis, landed you with a hefty bill and you still have no a/c. The system should have worked straight away if the condensor was the fault and they had purged the system correctly and refilled the oil and repressurised the system properly. Junk can get into a system if it is left depressuried for a long time or an ancient, decaying component starts shedding debris into the system. That doesn't sound like the case of yours, if it was working one day and failed the next. Get your money back, they are entirely clueless....
We bought our 2014 Fabia 1.2 Ts about 10 months ago, but due to health problems it's now proving difficult to get in to. So we unfortunately are going to have to change it. Looking at the following contenders

I'd stick to petrol if you're doing a limited mileage. Cheaper to buy and less to go wrong particularly regarding the 1.6 PSA diesels in some C3's and Ford C-Max models.
Citroens haven't the best reputation for longevity and while the petrol and the older 1400 diesels are tough they tend to get a bit tatty and rattly through age and are next to worthless at 6 years plus. The petrol Juke is largely trouble free but my choice would be the C-max with the Yamaha designed 1600 petrol which is vice free if serviced annually using the correct oil and to me feels the more comfortable better driving car.
In the last couple of days I have noticed that a grinding noise has appeared when starting. Whilst at the petrol station I turned the ignition key and this grinding noise appeared and I thought the engine was still running but then realised it wasn't, but it was the same noise as if the car was already running. The car started the second time and it got me home.
A little later at home, I tried to start it again and this grinding noise appeared again and this time the starter motor wouldn't turn over, but on the second time a little later on, it did turn the starter motor and the car started.
I have read that it could be teeth missing from the flywheel thats if its not the starter motor, so any input on this I would be really grateful. If anyone has any idea of a ballpark cost of a flywheel for a Peugeot 307 or the work that will be involved in replacing it then it would be really helpful to know before i take it to the garage next week Read more
Sounds like either the starter or the ring gear. How much it costs will depend on what engine is fitted, and whether it's got a dual mass flywheel or not. Garage should drop out the starter for a look, which will let them see the flywheel teeth so they can advise. That won't cost much - if it needs a flywheel, expect a bill heading towards four figures....
Have been looking for a Seat Alhambra and have found one which fits the exact spec I've been looking for at a good price.
The one sticking point is that the vehicle has no service history provided with it.... Read more
Keep quiet about this good news to the selling dealer and see if you can use the lack of history as a bargaining chip. And from now on follow HJs advice.
Noticed that you can get a fairly new low mileage leaf for £7 to £8k. My commute is only 16 miles a day and other than that I tend to walk everywhere.
Reading owners reviews, the average range to empty is around 80 miles which would do me fine most of the time, however I do a few long journeys each year of over 200 miles each way.... Read more
It's blindingly obvious, once people have jumped on an apparently mega cheap transport bandwagon, encouraged by govt, that the govt of the day and their local authority chums will seek to replace the revenue lost from fuel tax, road tax, vat, congestion charges and any other ways they can dream up to extract most of the money the public have left after general taxation.
They have form for this, promoting Diesels only to turn the hymnsheet over to page 666, Diesel Is Bad....
hi, i have a problem with cold starting, glow plugs will not come on unless i unplug the temp sensor and i have changed every part including plugs, thermostat and temp sensor, glow plug time relay, outside air temp sensor. i am thinking it must be the wiring to the temp sensor from ecu which is shorting making it hink the temp is warmer than it is because when checked on diagnostics it shows a high reading when the engine is stone cold.
i seen this (below) on here from a guy who had a problem but never said if resolved.... Read more
I would use a rotary resistor pulgged in place of the coolant temperature sensor.
Then monitor the "coolant" temperature on the scan tool to see if what the ECU is "seeing" corresponds with what I dialed into the rotary resistor....
The car has been now and again over the past 6 months cutting out, starting to shudder and stalling or refusing to start.
No fault codes are stored and have had the the timing adjusted as it was slightly out. That has stopped the shuddering that happened shortly after starting from cold.... Read more
Hi, Thanks for your reply. Fuel filter has been changed recently, so may mention the fuel tank sender unit/pump.
I did have a secondary fuel pump & fuel distributor rail changed on my 2010 2.0tdi transporter at 120,000 miles....
This site has a good selection of 6000 CD codes for free. I got mine there.
