Hi, I wonder if anybody can help.

I've seen some posts elsewhere about faulty Picasso dash displays but nothing quite the same as mine.

I have a 2004 Picasso and the left hand display is playing up (right side is all fine). Several of the lcd lines are not working so it's only partially displaying the speed and some lines on the patrol gauge are missing, so obviously tricky to read speed and how much petrol left. So far from ideal!

Some of the lines are displaying crisp and clear. Usually when starting up I can read everything, albeit some lines are very feint. After driving a while the faulty lines stop working. I have a picture but not sure if I can post here?

I've checked and replaced all bulbs so I know that's not the problem. Has anybody experienced this before?

My assumption is that the unit needs replacing. If so, can a pick up a replacement from a breakers yard and 'plug and play', I've read online where some say yes, but lots of others say the unit will need programming?

Any help gratefully appreciated!

If I recall ,the mileage is held in the Bsi unit(in cabin fuse/relay box).If you fit a dash with lower mileage, then the bsi will update to the original. If you fit a dash with higher mileage, then the bsi will update to the new high miles. The miles figure can only be adjusted by people that carry out "mileage correction" .

hi all, just wondering what experience anyone has had with a plug in tuning box. I drive a Focus estate 1.8 Tdci, so im no performance junkie, but what made me sit up and take notice was the advertised 10% improvement in fuel economy and promise of smoother running, eliminating flat spots and bogging down, which my car seems particularly prone to. The fact this device is supposed to boost BHP from 115 to @135 isn't as important to me as the fact that this box should lead to a better running more economical car. Albeit, more "go", i would view as a bonus. Im aware of the insurance impilcations, im honest, so will inform them should i go ahead and purchase one. The device which caught my eye is a german ML electronics unit advertised on the net for around £60 inc postage, it looks a simple affair to install (which i wont be doing myself), just two wires to clip into the common rail pipe. But, im i little concerned about any possible drawbacks, as i dont know anyone with one fitted. In essence what im asking is, at £60, (which, in this day and age isn't a fortune), but im concerned about any possible damage or after-effects fitting one of these units may produce. There are no testimonials for this product on their website, hence why im posting this. many thanks in anticipation of responses. Read more

Most of these cheapo tuning boxes are a box containing a couple of electronic bits and an LED to make them look clever. In truth all they do is convince the engine its still cold and needs more fuel and in a diesel more fuel means more power. It certainly does not mean better economy.

More fuel also means more smoke or particles and in a modern diesel with a DPF they will clog up quicker and potentially cost up to £1000 to replace....

Newbie here - any advice greatly appreciated - Thanks!

My daughter recently scraped a parked car (Audi A3) while she herself was parking. This resulted in a small scuff mark on the Audi bumper, which she photographed.

The other party wasn't present, so she left her contact details on the Audi and gave all the relevant details to her insurer. The other party visited her and said that since the car was leased from Audi, he would have to let them handle the insurance claim.

My daughter just received a very aggressively worded letter from a firm of solicitors saying that "We are instructed by our client Mr X to pursue against you a civil claim for compensation damages.." which are elaborated in the letter.

The letter goes on to request various insurance details and concludes by saying that "We must point out that it is an offence to provide insurance details when requested and if we do not hear from you we may be obliged to inform the Police."

I am 65 and neither my wife or myself in all our years of motoring have ever received a solicitor's letter in connection with an insurance matter, let alone a trivial scuff mark.

Questions:

Is this normal practice these days or is it some kind of scam to claim against the uninsured losses part of the policy?

Should we get our own solicitor to respond to the letter?

I would like to pick up the phone and give the solicitor an earful, but this might not be productive...

Thanks again! Read more

This happened to me about 25 years ago. minor accident, accepted that it was my fault, exchanged details and got a very agressive letter from some solicitors,

Phoned my insurers a bit worried and they said DO NOT WORRY, you have done correctly in informing us, so send it to us and do not answer them....

106 mph is not, per se "fast" for a V12 Audi, despite being twice the speed limit.

The white lights on the fuel and temperature guage are flickering. The red pointer lights are grand. Is this a fuse problem or something more serious. What fuse would be involved? The fuse section in the owners manual does not mention instrument panel fuses or is it a different description?

My car handbook (Verso 1.6D-4D) recommends using diesel with a cetane rating of "48 or higher". Whereas petrol fuels detail their octane rating, I am struggling to find any cetane details for diesel - even fuel manufacturers' websites seem coy on this question. Am I missing something obvious? Thank you, that's very helpful. Referring back to the manual it specifies "cetane number 48 or higher" so I guess I can use any local diesel outlet.

Hi folks,my girlfriend is reporting that on various occasions in the last 3 weeks,at speeds at,or over 60mph,she is getting a shuddering/ juddering feeling through the steering wheel. It's not all the time, but it is happening. I had the wheels balanced and it still happened. Any ideas at what might be causing this? Cheers Read more

A rocking horse is a child's toy, usually shaped like a horse and mounted on rockers similar to a rocking chair. Predecessors of the rocking horse may be seen in the rocking cradle, the tilting seats used during the Middle Ages for jousting practice as well as the wheeled hobby horse. The toy in its current form did not appear before the 17th century, though some conflicting sources note medieval manuscripts including references to carved rocking horses, presumably of the toy kind.
