Using HJ's car finder brings these people up at prices that seem to good to be true. Can't find any reviews, which makes me skeptical.

I am a regular guy who bought a truck and paid VAT on it. It was a second hand truck that i used for nothing other than trips to the dump and leisure use etc. I do not own my own business and just have a regular paye job.
I am now selling the truck as it is not what i want. What do i need to do/know about doing this. i.e. Do i charge no VAT or do i charge what i think is a price that i paid that included the VAT amount. If i look at the value of the vehicle online it gives a value that doesn't include the VAT that i paid on top of the cost of the vehicle. I have had the vehicle about 6 months.... Read more
As GB says. Unless you are VAT registered with HMRC, then you sell it at an 'all-inclusive' price. You do NOT charge VAT on top of the price, you do not account for the VAT portion of any sale.
Hi
My dad was driving his vehicle when the tyre pressure monitoring system went off stating the vehicle had a puncture. He pulled over to inspect and the front hand drivers side had dropped and was touching the vehicle. The car doesn't have air suspension either.
Mercedes roadside assistance stated it could 1 of three things.
Coil and springs have failed, loss of fluid or complete suspension failure.
Has anyone had this issue before? Any help would be greatful.
Thanks Read more
Thanks for your response. The cars due to be looked at tomorrow so hopefully just a broken spring. FOC?? Any particular reason?
The Hybrid battery on my vehicle will extinguish at some future point and will ordinarily require replacing.
Will it be necessary to do so or will the car simply continue to operate as a non-hybrid powered by the engine only? Read more
Not a direct answer to your question, I know, but if you look around hard enough you will find people able to replace just the faulty cells in a hybrid battery, so if the expense of a whole replacement battery is worrying you, this may be a useful way forward.
I have no idea whether the car can function without a battery (unlikely, surely?) or with a dead battery.
Any1 help my battery was change and stereo not work now needs a code my seriel number is m588327 , it's a 4500rds eon pls help Read more

I think I've just done that one - you only need to ask once!
My santa fe has developed a fault on the ignition, put the key in and all lights come on and go out correctly, turn key full turn to start and nothing, but turn it very slowly round to start it gets about half way and she starts up.. Any ideas...

If a new switch proves to be an eye watering solution, you could get an auto sparky (or DIY) to by pass the switch via a push button on the dash for starting purposes, so you only use the existing switch for ignition on and engine/ignition off.
Be like a 60's Morris 1000 or a super modern electronic marvel..:-)...

Hi
I need to replace the OSF wing on my Fiesta which has rotten through at the bottom. The wing is fitted mainly with spot welds, a few screws and bent over tabs. If I fit the replacement using only screws and /or pop rivets, will the car pass its MOT or do I need to re-do the spot welds? Thanks. Read more
Thanks. The only external fixing is at the bottom where the wing meets the sill and I'm thinking that pop rivets in place of the spot welds should be OK both here and under the bonnet. There are plenty of external pop rivets on the Land Rover Defender so under the sill should be OK.
Has anyone used jeweller's rouge to remove minor scratches from the car windscreen and does it work? Also, is jeweller's rouge the same as cerium oxide? Thanks Read more
IMO a repaired screen is worse than leaving the scratch there, as the repair leaves a magnifying effect that is very annoying.
With the rubbish/state of the road its hard keeping a clean screen
I'm sorry this is rather long, please do read it though, as I'd really appreciate your comments. My husband has a company car in his job with a large private company. He is about to move on to a better job as his current employer's terms and conditions are awful. When he leaves, we think a problem is going to arise and I would appreciate your opinions as I am trying to help him to do something to prevent it occurring.
He enjoys his company car but finds that he averages over 20mpg less than the manufacturer's published combined mpg figure, which is 76.3mpg (from the Vauxhall website for the particular model) despite being very good at maximising this through skilled driving and awareness. The terrain he covers for work is such that it is hard to maximise these figures. (Long distances on country roads and lanes, through towns and villages, many hills, stop-start and crawling necessary.)... Read more
It's a crazy method, obscure and difficult to run. for instance, how does the employer know to calculate the business miles? If there is no mileage log do they google the distance between appointments? We all know the mpg figures quoted are a joke, use this forum to ascertain real mpg for the car. Then there is the issue of speed, I presume your husband sticks to 50 to maximise the mpg acheived, even if he is late for appointments.
I do wonder whether HMRC would be interested in this scheme, since without a mileage log how can they be sure all private mileage is properly accounted for?...

I use online brokers and leasing firms to obtain quotes for cars then call round local dealers to see if any will match it and always found one that will. We saved a fortune on a Honda CRV v main dealer list doing this. Dealer said they were making nothing but it counted towards their target and thus they were willing to take it rather than not. Means I've a local point of contact if there are any issues rather than battling online or by phone with some distant firm.
