Santa fe 2002 td - Santa fe ignition fault - chester37

My santa fe has developed a fault on the ignition, put the key in and all lights come on and go out correctly, turn key full turn to start and nothing, but turn it very slowly round to start it gets about half way and she starts up.. Any ideas...

Sounds like a faulty ignition switch. Most likely due to corroded or partially burnt contacts inside.

If a new switch proves to be an eye watering solution, you could get an auto sparky (or DIY) to by pass the switch via a push button on the dash for starting purposes, so you only use the existing switch for ignition on and engine/ignition off.

Be like a 60's Morris 1000 or a super modern electronic marvel..:-)
