I wonder if someone knows about this warm starting issue, please?
My HDi van starts great when cold and runs great at 77K miles only. However, when it's warmed up and switched off, restarting fails, symptoms seem like flat battery (new battery fitted and connections checked ok). The starter motor solenoid isn't jamed as the van will start again ok after about 30 minutes after something is cooling down, although engne isn't overheating.... Read more
I am looking for used Citroen C5 2.2HDI 136 VTR hatchback which is average 44mpg, but I did not know that later model 2003-2004 add 6 speed gear. I though it will improve the mpg and cruise on motorway better so I have been search on C5 specifications try to find out how many extra mpg, performance and road tax but all info on both gears are the same.
I want to buy the 6 speed if it do lot better than 5 speed but I can't verified myself without ask someone who have own C5 with 5 and 6 gears please share with me... Read more
72 dudes - Sorry that you had a bad time with the 2.2/136 bhp - I guess some do and some don't! I've had one for almost 14 years now and the engine is going beautifully. Yes, it does use Eolys fluid to catalyse the first-generation DPF but the tank has only needed to be topped up every 50-60,000 miles. The original DPF lasted 94,000 miles and cost £300 to replace at my trusted local garage. And it needed a new MAF sensor at about 90,000 miles - no big deal - which was the only time I had issues with limp mode. For sure, it's not outstandingly economical; I get about 40 mpg brim-to-brim in mixed use, up to 45 mpg on a long run. The upside is that it's smooth, quiet and pulls like a train even after all these years.
If there are any around then they'd be dirt cheap so possibly worth a punt as you'd only be risking a few hundred pounds

Come to think of it, in the USA they have immense indoor plants to produce 'pork belly'. They are having a problem disposing of the waste products, as are the Danes. If the waste products were gasified then there is a fuel for vehicles to rival hydrogen. I've read that the gas is without any discernable smell. Anybody like to correct me ?
I drive a Toyota Avensis 2013 Model. Recently it starts to overheat in traffic when the air-conditioner (A/C) is on. It goes back to normal when the A/C is put off. This only happens in the afternoon.
Please, what are the possible causes?... Read more
You could stick to driving it only in the mornings .... :-)
We need to travel from Dover (to be more accurate, Gate services on the A2 as we are overnighting at the Travelodge after arriving on a late ferry) to Weston-super-Mare on 30th December. Given our experience at the end of October, I'm thinking it might make sense to avoid the M25. Any suggestions on quicker alternatives appreciated, I'm particularly interested on how the A25 stacks up as it seems to be a viable alternative for much of the M25 stretch of the journey.
TIA. Read more
To close this thread off, the traffic was fine on the M25. We slowed a bit, with the occasional grinding halt, on the usual SW quadrant from junction 10 to the M4, but no real problems despite not making avery early start. The real bottleneck was the M5 south just after leaving the M4. Heavy rain plus late afternoon/early evening traffic brought everything to a halt for a few miles.
The traffic in Germany and Belgium wasn't a real problem, even the Brussels ring kept moving. We travelled via the A9/A3 (Passau/Nurnberg/Frankfurt/Cologn/Aachen/Liege/Brussels/Dunkirk) with no holdups, in fact we reached Dunkirk at 5pm so managed to get the 6pm ferry rather than the 10pm we'd booked, so when we reached Dover we managed to find a pub for a meal before arriving at the Travelodge....
Anyone know how this does or doesn't work?
I drove from Leeds to Glasgow today and as soon as we left home live traffic was telling me the A66 was closed and tried to reroute away from A1/A66 to A65.
There was no mention of this closure on any travel news so I ignored it.
All the way to Bowes the system was still trying to reroute me to go towards Kendal to pick up the M6, a 12 mile detour.
I ignored the lot, no A66 closure to be seen! There were a few cones on a section before Penrith and a 40 limit, but that was it.
I've always used Garmin, but live traffic seems to be a waste of time. Read more
Mine is hit and miss. Last Sunday it failed to pick up a jam at Tebay on the M6. I was stationary for 30 mins and stop start for another 30. Not a peep from Garmin. Mind you none of the radio traffic mentioned it until 30 mins after I'd passed through.
Hi all. I have a 2007 gs450h.
When on the move, there is a noise from the rear, gets louder with speed. It sounds a little like a blowing exhaust, though it just passed an MOT, and the noise doesnt get louder with the windows down.
I think it could be the rear wheel bearing, as the sounder is quieter when doing a hard left/putting more weight on the right hand side.
Are these hard to do? perhaps getting the hub assembly is easier?
The noise is very annoying. Please help! Read more
Before getting involved in changing wheel bearings, assuming they have been checked by looking for movement at the wheel circumference, and there is no roughness when spinning the wheel, check the circumference of the tyre tread on the inside.
Run your hand flat around the tyre inner edge looking for or feeling for the treadblocks where can feel their edges sharp in one direction but smooth in the other direction, this is called feathering or scalloping and will make a buzzing or humming noise at speed - cheaper than replacing bearings!
Im currently changing the turbo on a 2009 tiguan 2.0 tdi. Has anyone done one before? It looks abit of a nightmare. Ive started by removing the rocker cover which has given me more access to the manifold but it looks like i need to remove the dpf? Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks. Read more
New fuel filter fitted when new injectors fitted and no swarf in bowl. I think my theory is sound and ill report back once if fitted said parts
Hi I have had my Mondeo looked at today by the RAC as it wouldn't start and have been told that the turbo has blown. Oil is coming out of the exhaust and a neighbour who is in the trade confirmed that it is definitely the Turbo. I have recently been putting water in the car every other day - my question is, if I get a refurbished turbo or whatever, will the water problem be solved? Is this caused by the Turbo? I have had a new water pump recently fitted and my car has always been so reliable! Any advice would be great please. Read more
Not convinced this is your problem.A blown turbo will not cause the engine to not start. However if it has dumped all the oil in the exhaust system ,then this may cause a blockage to cause a non start. The turbo is lubricated by oil, there is no coolant involved.Looks like there could be major problems here,on a car not worth very much.
If the starter is turning slowly when hot, first check all the high current connections especially the earth lead where its attached to the engine/gearbox, if they are OK I would suspect the starter.
