Of those three I'd go for the Avensis, partly because it's more likely to be reliable over a high mileage, and also because the performance of the VAG 1.6 diesel is adequate but no more - probably verging on the sluggish in the bigger Passat (I've only tried one in a Yeti courtesy car).

You miss one major statistic - it takes less electricity to charge an electric car than it would to refine the fuel to run an equivalent internal combustion engined car.
My car is an A4 avant 3.0tdi v6 stronic7 quattro from July 2012.mileage 28,000. bought second hand from Audi dealer.
I am concerned about the s tronic auto box.
I really like this car. The stronic box mostly feels fine BUT I constantly experience the following :
At constant 80 mph on the motorway (in France!) the box becomes immediately noisy (boomy, which can seem to ring around the cabin of the car), and with the additional noise comes additional vibration (through the floor?) and trembling of the horizontal part of the driver's seat.
Also, At 56 mph the box is already in D7 and it doesn't feel quite optimal so switching into M6 seems to improve things.
Mecatronics ? Something damaged ? clutch judder ? premature wear ? or just need of recalibration? Read more
Oil change has just been done but it didn't make any difference, unfortunately. I am going to ask for a software update but so far the Audi garage say everything is ok with the box. I dont trust them...

Thinking of getting a dash cam my problem is I only use my car twice a week now as I have a company van and my wife uses the bus now to go to work , I really want an unobtrusive camera I can hide behind the rear view mirror and the one I really like is about 300quid (mi witness) its got a lot of ( I think) useful features WiFi ect . as I said the car isn't used often now so can I really justify pending that amount on a camera on a car that spends most of its time in the garage? There are several free dashcam apps available for smartphones. I use Dailyroads Voyager on a Galaxy S2. And the screen mount was about 3 quid from an eBay seller.
Took battery off and put back on. Now passenger and rear windows will only go down or up about 2 inches at a time. Is there a reset for the windows at all. Read more

I am searching online for a while now to find which car is best for me, I drove for ten years but not in the UK, and I found this forums very promising.
I am looking for a cheap to run car, I do care about the size and look of the car as well, so basically I am not interested in very small cars like old ford fiesta or yaris.
Mpg is important for me as well as other run costs and insurance.
My budget is max £2k, the cars that I've found interesting are :
Nissan Almera
Nissan pixo
Peugeot 207
VW polo
Volvo s40
I need help and advice to select a car, as my knowledge is not enough and I am confused, I don't know if a diesel one would be good for me as I will travel at least twice a week.

Sorry, but for radios whose Serial Number begins with a "V", followed by a six digit number, I'm afraid there is no Keycode generator available for you to work out the code....
